Nikola Corporation is Hiring an ADAS Development Engineer, OS Integration Near Phoenix, AZ

OverviewWe are seeking a talented and experienced Autonomous Driving Software Engineer to join our cutting-edge team, focusing on operating system integration for autonomous vehicles. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless interaction between the autonomous driving software stack and the underlying operating system, optimizing performance, security, and reliability to pave the way for advanced autonomous driving capabilities on Nikola trucks.
ResponsibilitiesYou will:
  • Design and implement software architectures that integrate autonomous driving algorithms with the chosen operating system, ensuring real-time performance and resource optimization
  • Collaborate closely with software development teams to understand their requirements and design an operating system environment that meets their needs
  • Optimize the operating system for autonomous driving applications, including latency reduction, memory management, and process scheduling
  • Develop device drivers and interface layers to enable seamless communication between the autonomous driving software and vehicle hardware components
  • Implement security measures and protocols to protect the integrity and confidentiality of the autonomous driving system within the operating system environment
  • Conduct performance analysis, profiling, and optimization to identify and resolve bottlenecks in the operating system integration
  • Work with hardware engineers to ensure proper configuration and utilization of the underlying hardware platform for optimal performance
  • Document and maintain software integration processes, best practices, and technical specifications related to operating system integration
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in operating systems, autonomous driving technologies, and industry standards
QualificationsYou have:
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. A master's degree or PhD is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on operating system integration, embedded systems, or real-time applications
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C , and experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as QNX or Linux
  • Strong understanding of operating system internals, including process management, memory management, and inter-process communication
  • Experience with device driver development, hardware abstraction layers, and low-level programming
  • Knowledge of automotive networking protocols, such as CAN and Ethernet, and vehicle communication interfaces is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with security practices, encryption techniques, and secure coding principles
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and optimize complex systems
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
This position offers a unique opportunity to play a critical role in the development of autonomous driving technologies. The successful candidate will ensure the seamless integration of autonomous driving software with the underlying operating system, optimizing performance, security, and reliability, and ultimately contributing to the safe and efficient operation of autonomous vehicles.
Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
