NJM Insurance Group is Hiring a Communication specialist Near Trenton, NJ

Communications Specialist

Are you a seasoned communications professional with several years of business writing experience and strong technical skills with tools like SharePoint and Microsoft Office?

Or do you have a background in technology with an interest in using more of your creativity and writing skills? If so, we have the ideal opportunity.

Due to an internal advancement, NJM Insurance Group's Human Resources Department has an exciting role based in our corporate office in West Trenton (Ewing Township), New Jersey for a Communications Specialist.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements :

Develop accurate, timely and well-written tactical communications for employees. This includes materials for NJM Insider, Retiree website and other outlets.

Communications include general employee information, Company initiatives, industry updates, and more. Provide communications assistance for assigned business initiatives, specifically to assist the Benefits, Wellness and Corporate Giving Departments.

Prepare all articles for posting to NJM Insider using SharePoint.

Provide support to the Administrator, Corporate Communications with planning for a variety of company-wide initiatives as needed, including Town Hall Meetings.

Assist the Vice President, Human Resources with HR communications as needed. Participate on NJM's Crisis Communications Team and provide any needed communications support during crisis and weather events.

Serve as lead on implementing all company changes to the Policies & Procedures Manual using the MadCap Flare program. Draft communication pieces related to the annual Policy Acceptance period and aid with implementing any technical changes to those policies in the Policies & Procedures Manual.

Help streamline communications processes and solve technical issues when they arise. Use educational opportunities to improve skills in writing, communications and other areas pertinent to the position.

Assist the Corporate Communications Dept. with drafting and editing additional materials on an as-needed basis. Also, work collaboratively with the Media & Configuration staff in use of video materials for communications needs.

General Summary :

The Communications Specialist is responsible for developing, managing approvals of, posting and organizing accurate, timely and well-written tactical communications for employees.

Channels include the company intranet, digital signage, retiree site page, mass emails, memos and more.

Responsibilities :

  • Draft, edit, prep, and post NJM Insider articles on a wide variety of topics
  • Create, design, edit, and format images for NJM Insider
  • Format, design and post digital signage materials
  • Administrate Benefits articles that are sent to us via SharePoint's automated push functionality
  • Create quick polls which are added to NJM Insider's homepage, monitor results
  • Create photo montages of major employee events using PowerPoint, Word, or other tools
  • Assist the Vice President, Human Resources with HR communications as needed.
  • Participate on NJM's Crisis Communications Team and provide any needed communications support during crisis and weather events.
  • Monitor NJM Insider Inbox
  • Update Outlook Approvals calendars for articles
  • Archive communications, including emails, articles and photos
  • Serve as lead on implementing all company changes to the Policies & Procedures Manual using the MadCap Flare program. Draft communication pieces related to the annual Policy Acceptance period and aid with implementing any technical changes.
  • Coordinate article additions on the retiree site
  • Assist with special events, such as Town Hall meetings, as needed
  • Use educational opportunities to improve skills in writing, communications and other areas pertinent to the position.
  • Assist the Corporate Communications Dept. with drafting and editing additional materials on an as-needed basis.
  • Help streamline communications processes and solve technical issues when they arise
  • Work collaboratively with the Media & Configuration staff in use of video materials for communications needs

Hours :

  • The hours for this position are day shift, Monday through Friday
  • After 2 weeks of full time on-site training, this will be a hybrid position (2 telecommuting days per week)

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities :

  • Strong writing, editing and organizational skills
  • SharePoint, MadCap Flare (training is available to the successful candidate)
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • PowerPoint, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat helpful, not required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required

Education and Experience :

  • 5 10 years' experience in communications or technical field required.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications or IT strongly preferred.
