Noblis is Hiring a Marine Engineering Specialist & Project Lead Near Washington, DC

Responsibilities

Noblis MSD is hiring a Marine Engineering Specialist & Project Lead to support Cross Platform Engineering Support Services (ESS) for the Naval Systems Engineering and Logistics Directorate (NAVSEA 05).

The Marine Engineering Specialist will support the Navy Technical Authority responsible for the modification and upgrade of ship designs. This position will support the Navy Client to help establish, monitor and approve technical standards, tools and processes. The Marine Engineering Group is the Navy’s technical authority for machinery systems for all surface ships, aircraft carriers and submarine classes.

This person will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing Technical Authority execution for all surface ship, aircraft carriers, and submarine classes.
  • Developing and maintaining of specifications, standards and processes.
  • Providing first response for ship incidents (groundings, collisions, battle damage, critical equipment failures).
  • Managing and overseeing Marine Engineering equipment material readiness initiatives, including fleet spares, gas turbine overhauls, diesel engines, steam systems, submarine atmospheric control.
  • Developing cost reduction efforts.
  • Leading efforts for future power capabilities, energy conservation, and new technologies.
  • Identifying trends in reliability and operational availability and overall health of mechanical systems.
  • Assisting diesel technical warrant holders with managing reliability issues related to ship service diesel generators, emergency diesel generators, and associated Diesel Maintenance strategies.
  • Providing in depth knowledge and maintenance recommendations of combustion engines and power train systems.
  • Assisting lead systems engineers with electrical system architecture; including providing recommendations on power generation, conversion, propulsion, battery proliferation, and battery certification authority.
  • Developing long-term sustainable options for the reliability and availability of electrical systems.
  • Providing expertise and troubleshooting for Hull, Deck, and Auxiliary Systems, including Lube Oil Quality Management, and additive manufacturing technology integration.
  • Assisting engineering leads in weapons and cargo handling and aviation support equipment including Advanced Weapon Elevator systems and associated control systems, cargo elevators, and deck equipment requirements evaluation.
  • Assisting the lead systems engineers in deck and underway replenishment systems including davits, launch and recovery equipment, and anchor windlass equipment.
  • Supporting efforts in AI, machine learning, and predictive data analytics and develop models and algorithms for use in planning and forecasting for future maintenance.
  • Supporting Government requirements with emergent engineering projects.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience and bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Expert knowledge in one or more areas for the design, development, and implementation of technical products, systems for all Navy vessels.
  • Understanding of technical authority and policy guidance under Government direction.
  • Travel at least 10%.
  • A DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering and 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Expertise in multiple Naval engineering disciplines.
  • Project management experience.

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package for employees.

Posted Salary Range

USD $90,300.00 - USD $141,075.00 /Yr.
