NCHC is Hiring an Outpatient Psychiatrist Near Wausau, WI

Purpose of the Position

Provide psychiatric services to patients, clients, consumers and resident of North Central Health Care. Psychiatrist works within their scope of practice and within established medical standards in the provision of care for the treatment of individuals with acute and chronic psychiatric and mental health disorders.
General Outpatient Position, however specialties welcome
-We can adapt role to given specialty if requested (addiction, gero, etc..)
Opportunities for teaching students and residents, faculty appointment available
Leadership roles with NCHC or MCW Residency available for right candidates
-Outpatient medical director
-Residency leadership roles also available

Education and Experience Requirements

Required:

Current Wisconsin license to practice medicine

Board certified in psychiatry

Current DEA certification

One to three years' experience

  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license and appropriate auto insurance coverage as required by North Central Health Care.
  • Must have the use of a personal vehicle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides diagnostic evaluations to patients, makes recommendations of treatment, meets with interdisciplinary team to plan/review treatment, and provides treatment, orders, referrals, tests, and ancillary services that are required and consistent within the scope of psychiatric specialty to provide mental health care services.

Orders medication for mental health needs while adhering to established formulary.

Provides outpatient psychiatric services to include, but not limited to, initial assessment, medication management, individual/family/group therapy, and psychological testing as appropriate.

Assesses all aspects of the patient’s health status and ensures all patients receive appropriate care.

Obtains and accurately documents a relevant health history, with an emphasis on mental health history.

Performs a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, which includes evaluation of mental status, current and past history of violence, suicidal or self-harm behavior, substance use, level of functioning, health behaviors, trauma, sexual behaviors, and social and developmental history.

Utilizes effective clinical interviewing skills that facilitate development of a therapeutic relationship.

Orders and interprets findings of relevant laboratory tests.

Develops a treatment plan for mental health problems and psychiatric disorders based on evidence based standards of care, and practice guidelines.

Prescribes psychotropic and related medications based on clinical indicators of a patient’s status while adhering to established formulary; schedules medication management appointments to appropriately monitor patients.

Documents all patient encounters in the medical and/or mental health record in a timely manner. This includes, but not limited to, all entries being dated, timed, and having author’s legible signature.

Prepares and completes required evaluations, summaries, insurance forms, and letters as it relates to patient care

Upholds all rules and regulations governing the confidentiality of mental health patients and their records.

Uses universal precautions at all times; participates in infection control, quality improvement, and peer review activities and committee meetings as they relate to mental health.

Maintains regular and predictable on-site attendance.
