The Maintenance Team Lead/Technician works with the Electrical & Maintenance Manager to ensure equipment used in the production of Nordic Ware products and certain areas of the plant run to their maximum efficiency and output. This individual assists with preventative maintenance planning and scheduling, coordinating mechanical and electrical equipment projects, and identifying and keeping sufficient materials, tools, and parts in inventory and organized. This role will also be critical in helping the manager both as a lead and a technician, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the Maintenance Department.

What you will get to do:

Team Lead Role (50%):

  • Support the Electrical & Maintenance Manager in producing effective maintenance strategies, procedures and methods.
  • Assist the manager with preventative maintenance planning and scheduling, tracking maintenance projects, and identifying, ordering, and keeping sufficient parts on hand.
  • Coordinate daily activities and jobs within the department to ensure appropriate prioritization of activities.
  • Ensure department members repair mechanical and electrical equipment in a manner that supports customer demands and minimizes downtime.
  • Assist manager in adjusting work assignments and reviewing completed work.
  • Participate in the training of new employees and support continued development & learning for all department employees.
  • Perform effective troubleshooting of equipment breakdowns.
  • Assist in the development of effective PM plans for all equipment/machines.
  • Provide inputs and updates to company maintenance management systems/spreadsheets.
  • Contribute to documentation of machinery repair histories.
  • Ensure technicians clean-up work areas and communicate with affected departments when maintenance work is completed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and safety efforts.
  • Working closely with Tool Room, Maintenance Technicians, Safety and Engineering employees.

Maintenance Technician Role (50%):

  • Recommend, build, and install necessary safety equipment on plant machinery.
  • Perform installation of new, and relocation of existing equipment in the plant.
  • Diagnose machine malfunctions and operating difficulties. Effect repairs and adjustment, either temporary to keep machines running safely, but have a plan for permanent repairs when possible.
  • Setup, troubleshoot and repair press automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair machine controls including PLC's and safety controls.
  • Work with outside contractors and vendors as needed for repairs and/or ordering supplies and parts as needed for job.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on production and non-production equipment including, but not limited to, greasing, lubrication, filtration, and power transmission components.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, multi-meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Work collaboratively with department team members and other department Managers and Supervisors to ensure all production requirements are met, to promote most efficient operations for all departments, and to ensure company goals are achieved.
  • Comply with plant safety rules, policies and regulations and maintain clean/orderly work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for in you:
  • High School diploma or equivalent with Tech School or a degree preferred.
  • 5 years of Manufacturing Maintenance experience required.
  • 1 years of formal or informal leadership experience preferred.
  • Possess relevant skills to enable manufacturer of needed components using mills, lathes, surface grinders etc.
  • Experience with mechanical and hydraulic presses is essential, any experience with Injection Molding machines or Compression machines or Metal Spinning machines preferred.
  • Knowledge of load bearing properties of ropes, cables, hoists and cranes.
  • Must be able to read schematic diagrams and blueprints.
  • Must be able to perform basic welding, be skilled with plumbing, minor electrical, power transmission, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems.
  • Must be proficient in the repair of a variety of machines including but not limited to pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems and other production related processes and systems.
  • On-the-job training is provided to familiarize with plant machines.
