Director of Warehouse Operations Job Description

Job Title: Director of Warehouse Operations

Credentials: Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and excellent driving record

Education: High school diploma or GED

Training or experience required: 2-4 years of directly related warehouse experience. At least 1 year at a school district is preferred.

Site: Warehouse

Reports to: Associate Superintendent and Chief Operating Officer

Contract: 260 Days

Salary Schedule: Off Scale

FLSA Classification: Non-exempt

Position Overview:

The Director of Warehouse Operations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations within the school district. This position is responsible for managing deliveries to school sites, ensuring efficient asset management of furniture and equipment inventory, supervising the duplicating department, and overseeing incoming and outgoing mail operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a commitment to maintaining the smooth functioning of warehouse activities.

Essential Job Functions:

· Supervise warehouse operations, including task delegation, staff supervision, and other managerial duties.

  • Maintain an excellent driving record and adhere to all driving safety regulations and rules.
  • Manage district mail operations, overseeing postage machines, outgoing mail, and delivery of incoming mail to sites.
  • Oversee the delivery, inspection, and storage of furniture and equipment, maintaining accurate inventory records, utilizing digital filing systems.
  • Maintain accurate records related to item movement and transfers within the district.
  • Coordinate supply deliveries to school sites.
  • Organize transfers of furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding damaged, defective, or missing shipments and arrange item returns.
  • Stock shelves, conduct inventories, and retrieve items as required.
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of warehouse inventory and equipment, including assigned vehicles.
  • Maintain district archive records and oversee retention schedule.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations within the broader Operational Services framework.
  • Recommend and implement procedures and policies for improved operations.
  • Develop and manage assigned budgets.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills for exchanging information and providing instructions.
  • Basic mathematical abilities for routine computations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Proficiency with: MS Office products
  • Capability to read and interpret basic written or printed materials such as blueprints, charts, and instruction manuals.
  • Physical stamina to stand/walk for extended periods, with frequent bending, stooping, crawling, climbing, reaching, pushing, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, up to 75 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 100 pounds, with manual dexterity and visual acuity to oversee warehouse operations and fulfill orders.
  • Effective hearing and speaking abilities for phone communication with vendors, suppliers, employees, and other stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work in varied conditions, including outdoor environments with temperature changes, exposure to dust, fumes, and use of machinery, while adhering to district safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or equivalent project management certification.
  • Proven experience in process improvement and efficiency enhancement within warehouse operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and optimize logistics and supply chain processes.
  • Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and decision-making.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $60,021.00 - $70,021.00 per year
