Job Summary
- Processes, performs, and results all necessary testing for the Microbiology department
- Reads and reports culture findings for most specimen types and performs workup per protocol
- Reports antimicrobial susceptibility testing according to CLSI and laboratory protocol
- Performs and documents all quality controls and preventative maintenance for all instrumentation
- Maintains competency assessments
- Ability to multi-task and work independently
- Assist in the preparation of CAP and Joint Commission inspections
- Reports to a Laboratory Manager or Supervisor
- Receives general supervision from Pathologists, Director, Lead Medical Technologist, Technical Supervisors, Shift Supervisors, and Medical Technologists.
- Receives supervision in computer activities from the Specialist, Lab Information Systems
- Bachelor’s degree and Medical Technology (MT)/Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification with American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent.
- Must meet the minimum requirements of the Clinical Laboratory Act of 1988.
- At least 1 years of MT/MLS background
Licensure/Certification
- Registered with ASCP (or eligible for registry) as a Medical Technologist or equivalent
- $24.75-$43.71/hr depending on previous experience
