Processes, performs, and results all necessary testing for the Microbiology department
Reads and reports culture findings for most specimen types and performs workup per protocol
Reports antimicrobial susceptibility testing according to CLSI and laboratory protocol
Performs and documents all quality controls and preventative maintenance for all instrumentation
Maintains competency assessments
Ability to multi-task and work independently
Assist in the preparation of CAP and Joint Commission inspections
Reports to a Laboratory Manager or Supervisor
Receives general supervision from Pathologists, Director, Lead Medical Technologist, Technical Supervisors, Shift Supervisors, and Medical Technologists.
Receives supervision in computer activities from the Specialist, Lab Information Systems
QualificationsEducation
Bachelor’s degree and Medical Technology (MT)/Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification with American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent.
Must meet the minimum requirements of the Clinical Laboratory Act of 1988.
Experience
At least 1 years of MT/MLS background
(Above requirements can be met by equivalent combination of education and experience) Licensure/Certification
Registered with ASCP (or eligible for registry) as a Medical Technologist or equivalent
Compensation/Benefits
$24.75-$43.71/hr depending on previous experience
