JOB OBJECTIVE
The Industrial Civil Apprentice will provide support and assistance to various civil engineering projects. The Civil Helper performs a range of tasks, including material handling, equipment operation, site preparation, and general construction duties.

REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE
  • Must have at least 1-2 years of experience as an Industrial Civil Apprentice.
  • Must be able to follow instructions correctly.
  • Must be willing and able to follow all instructed safety regulations.
  • Must be able to make it to work on time and work the designated schedule and any overtime as needed with the proper notification.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Must pass drug and background check.
KNOWLEDGE
  • Material Handling: Assist in the loading, unloading, and transportation of construction materials, tools, and equipment to and from the work site. Maintain an organized inventory of materials and supplies.
  • Prepare the construction sites by clearing debris, setting up safety barriers, and erecting temporary structures as directed by the project supervisor.
  • Operate basic equipment such as hand tools, wheelbarrows, and small machinery under the guidance or experienced operators.
  • Collaborate with skilled tradespeople, such as hand tools, power tools, wheelbarrows, and small machinery under the guidelines and report any equipment malfunctions or issues promptly.
  • Assist in excavation work, digging trenches, and preparing the ground for foundations, utilities, or drainage systems. Assist in the leveling and grading of surfaces as required.
  • Support concrete- related tasks, such as mixing, pouring, and finishing. Help with the installation of rebar and formwork.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area by removing debris, garbage, and hazardous materials. Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Record and report work progress, including materials used, tasks completed, and any issues encountered, to the project supervisor. Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to projects reports as required.
  • Work closely with other team members, including engineers, technicians, and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
  • Will talk and hear to communicate.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
  • May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/ scaffolding using appropriate fall protection requirements.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.
