JOB OBJECTIVE
The Estimator will provide high quality estimating support and be a valuable resource to both project management and the project teams during the proposal process and throughout the project lifecycle. Responsible for planning, coordination, and execution of company’s estimating standards.

REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE
  • 2-3 years of estimating or construction experience (EPC preferred) in industrial construction
  • Experience in Building Remodeling preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering Technology preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and capable of establishing respect and credibility.
  • Strong data analysis skills with emphasis in MS Excel.
  • Microsoft Project and Primavera P6 experience preferred.
  • TWIC and HASC Basic Plus required.
  • Must be willing and able to follow all instructed safety regulations.
  • Must be able to make it to work on time and work the designated schedule and any overtime as needed with the proper notification.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Must pass drug and background check.
KNOWLEDGE
  • Assure that all company and/or project goals are properly understood and acted upon by all estimating personnel.
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and attend pre-bid meetings as needed. Coordinate the construction estimating effort and maintain a standard estimating process.
  • Support the project management group in developing the estimates. Develop quantity surveys from plans and specifications, as well as conceptual information (i.e. P&IDs).
  • Generate material take-offs (MTOs) from client supplied drawings and specifications which can be used for obtaining purchase-ready quotes, in conjunction with the Purchasing Department.
  • Generate detailed subcontractor scope of work (SOW) from supplied bid documents with division of responsibility and detailed scope of supply between Client and Company. Coordinate between Client and Subcontractor for field visits and any other clarifications required through the bid phase.
  • Assign labor values to the work
  • Have strong knowledge of instrumentation and electrical estimation.
  • Understand feedback from Senior Estimators and Construction Management and incorporate cost impacts into future estimates.
  • Understand field conditions under which the work will be performed and identify potential cost and/or schedule impacts.
  • Through collaboration with Construction Management, capture applicable costs for rental equipment required for field installation.
  • Ability to organize large amounts of information into a coherent and meaningful format while working on multiple prospects simultaneously.
  • Lead estimate review meetings with the Project Team. Present final estimate and supporting bid package documentation for review to Project Management, Estimating Manager, Construction Management, and Executive Management (as needed).
  • Communicate effectively within the estimating group, other internal departments, and the client.
  • Attend internal kick-off meetings with project management, engineering, and/or construction groups, ensuring proper handover of estimate information upon award of a project.
  • Take clear ownership of assigned estimating tasks to support the process from initial bid walk through proposal submittal. Complete any required client bid forms or cost breakdowns.
  • Work within company policy as outlined in the Norrell Employee Handbook as well as the Norrell Safety Manual and OSHA Safety rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
  • Will talk and hear to communicate.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
  • May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/ scaffolding using appropriate fall protection requirements.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.
