North Carolina Adult Correction is Hiring a Medical Records Assistant/Administrative Specialist I- Alexander CI Near Alexander, NC

Description of Work

This position is located at Alexander Correctional in Taylorsville. Positions in this class are characterized by knowledge or skills particular to an area of specialization, process, or program. Work requires specialized knowledge in the processing and application of information, documents and/or materials. The majority of time is allocated to tasks that involve several steps and require the selection of the most appropriate action within procedural and operational guidelines. The range of duties includes, but is not limited to, verifying data, report writing, summarizing and reconciling information or financial data, records management, claims review and processing, data collection and analysis, research, inventory, personnel administration and fund collection or expenditures. The role is different from the Administrative Associate because fewer general office or administrative tasks are performed. Examples of the areas of specialization in this class include, but are not limited to accounting, medical records, call center, statistical, and human resources.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
NC Department of Adult Correction (DAC):
The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. We will not review resumes in lieu of Experience and Education listed on the application.
To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess the following:

  • Documented experience performing administrative functions in an office setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in organization, retention, review and filing of records.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
