North Carolina Central University is Hiring a Building maintenance Near Durham, NC

Primary Purpose of Position

The primary purpose of this position is to perform building trades including but not limited to painting, sheet-rock finishing, carpentry, furniture repairs and various other repairs.

Complete building renovations involving all the above technical services. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Able to understand principles of general building maintenance to include carpentry, plumbing, furniture and door repairs.
  • Ability to make minor plumbing, electrical and HVAC repairs.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power equipment in a safe manner.
  • Ability to read and write, speak and understand English fluently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to understand and follow directions with minimal supervision.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Minimum Education / Experience

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Optional Guidelines : Experience in the Trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
