Working Title: Regional Recruiter (Central Region)

Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time

Location: Regional /Field-Based, Flexible/Hybrid - TRAVEL IS REQUIRED; therefore, Candidate needs to reside in one of the counties specified in the assigned coverage areas below.

** This position plans, executes, and supports FIELD-BASED recruitment initiatives. Therefore, extensive travel and onsite support at facilities/venues is required within the assigned Region. **

Salary: Up to $36.00, hourly rate (depending on experience and qualifications)

This Agency HR Consultant I (Regional Recruiter) position is classified as a TEMPORARY position. NOTE: For temporary, contract, or other supplemental staffing appointments, there are no paid leave, retirement, or other benefits associated with these appointment types.

Central Region Recruitment Area(s): Randolph, Chatham, Alamance, Orange, Caswell, Rockingham, Person, and Durham Counties. NOTE: EXTENSIVE TRAVEL WITHIN THE REGION IS REQUIRED; therefore, Candidate needs to reside in one of the counties specified in the above assigned coverage areas.

Resources Provided: A State-issued cell phone, vehicle, laptop, printer, and other pertinent equipment will be provided due to the position’s nature of traveling.

** Position includes some weekend and evening work and may include occasional overnight stay. **

This position will independently serve as a Department of Adult Correction (DAC) Regional Recruiter (Central Region) to initiate recruitment initiatives in the specified Central Region to plan, coordinate, and facilitate recruitment to meet the business needs within a defined geographic area, division, or agency within DAC. This position will recruit for, and source qualified candidates as designated in the specified geographical area or genre. This position will work with Agency Administration, Prison Facility Administrators, Community Supervision District Staff, and other units within DAC to plan and facilitate special recruitment initiatives to target outstanding candidates for classifications including, but not limited to, Correctional Officers, Probation/Parole Officers, Administrative, Trades, Engineering, Health Care Services Staff, and other positions as deemed necessary. The position will be expected to collaborate and develop working relationships with colleges, universities, professional boards/commission/associations to facilitate special recruitment initiatives, with a direct report to the Recruitment Supervisor (Agency HR Consultant III) and indirectly to the agency Talent Acquisition Manager.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating and developing working relationships with colleges and universities as well as professional boards, commissions, and/or associations to plan and facilitate recruitment initiatives and gain interested candidates.
  • Planning, executing, participating in, and attending DAC-specific career and hiring events as well as community job fairs and networking events.
  • Utilizing advertising, marketing, social media, professional associations, and other sources to promote certain positions.
  • Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, with applicants, internal and external stakeholders, and management both individually and in front of large audiences at all levels of the organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Experience planning and implementing strategic field recruitment initiatives.
  • Experience using social media tools and electronic platforms in the recruitment process.
  • Experience collaborating with managers and others to develop specific recruitment initiatives.

Management Preferences:

  • Field-based recruitment experience
  • Experience recruiting applicants for specific job classifications, such as Correctional Officers, Probation/Parole Officers, and Health Care Services positions, and/or Maintenance/Trade classifications.
  • Experience in Candidate Sourcing from various platforms, etc.
  • Experience conducting virtual job fairs or other similar virtual recruitment events

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree, typically in Human Resources or related field from an appropriately accredited institution; OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; OR an Equivalent combination of education and experience.
