North Carolina Department Public Safety is Hiring an Administrative Specialist I Near Wake, NC

Description Of WorkThis is a REPOST of position 65035001. Previous applicants MUST REAPPLY to be considered.
This is an INTERNAL POSTING open ONLY for North Carolina State Government and UNC System current employees and eligible RIF candidates. Temporary employees are eligible to apply.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits .
The primary purpose of this position is to work with the NC ABC Boards and to assist in spirituous liquor pricing-related tasks. And, to issue permits to spirituous liquor companies and their representatives in a timely manner. State law requires uniform pricing of spirituous liquor consequently, the position must assure all spirituous liquor pricing information is accurate. This includes maintaining the database in which the NC Quarterly Pricing is recorded. This pricing is used throughout the NC ABC System by ABC Boards, permittees, suppliers, brokers and the general public.
Job responsibilities include the following:
  • Assist in contacting suppliers, both national and international, to check on the availability of products and to verify product information.
  • Communicate with the Pricing Division Director regarding any changes which need to be made to the special-order system.
  • Assist in following up with suppliers regarding the status of outstanding orders.
  • Assist with communications with ABC Boards.
  • Communicate with the ABC Boards, Suppliers/Brokers and the ABC Warehouse to assist with the daily processing of approximately 75 to 100 orders.
  • Assist the warehouse with surplus inventory for which there are no outstanding orders.
  • Assist with the publication of the NC Quarterly Price List.
  • Serve as the Division's primary contact. The questions may be about ABC Stores, pricing, products, codes, new products, specialty items, etc.
  • Assist with records maintenance including contact lists for the ABC Boards, Suppliers, Brokers, Warehouse, Military Bases, etc.
  • Assist with the receipt and recording of data from the ABC Boards (audits, budgets, updates to financials, ethics training compliance, etc.).
  • Assist with adding documents to the public website and the ABC Boards' website.
Note to Current State Employees :
The salary grade for this position is NC08. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
  • Demonstrated skill using math for calculations or pricing formulas.
  • Experience using Excel and Word.
  • Operational knowledge of computer hardware and peripheral equipment.
