Description of Work

The Human Resource office provides comprehensive HR services to employees in the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Division of Services for the Blind, and the Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing including consultation and technical assistance to management in the functional areas of employee relations, policy and benefits administration, classification and compensation, salary administration, health and safety, recruitment and employment.

The HR Coordinator acts as an integral member of the HR Team and requires the ability to make decision, multi-task, and prioritize their work independently to ensure customer satisfaction and confidentiality. The HR coordinator is an administrative role that will assist int eh all aspects of the HR Office and the functional areas such as recruitment, benefits, employee relations, classification and compensation and Time administration.

Job Responsibilities include

  • Assisting with full-cycle recruitment including onboarding processes
  • Timekeeping
  • File Maintenance
  • Provide administrative support for the HR office
  • Process and maintain audit compliant records
  • Function as the first point of contact for employees regarding HR policy, I-9 records, criminal background check procedures
  • Process and maintain personnel and organization actions and function the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking System (ATS)

  • Proficient in utilizing the Microsoft Office suite applications
  • Proven ability to apply technical and procedural benefit policies and procedures in a complicated HRIS environment
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor, track and reconcile transactions for quality assurance and timeliness
  • Proven ability to apply policy, regulations, and procedures to a variety of employment situations
  • Documented ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing • Proven ability to process personnel action requests with high level of accuracy
Management Preferences
  • Previous experience supporting an HR office within state government
  • Previous experience using HRIS/SAP
  • Previous experience using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS)

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. Associates degree, typically in Human Resources from an appropriately accredited institution or relevant field and no years of experience required;
OR
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
