The Inventory Assistant position will perform a variety of clerical and manual tasks in the requisitioning, receiving, storing, and issuing of supplies, materials, and equipment. Work may involve heavy lifting. Employees assist in the operation of a stock room independently. Work is performed in accordance with established stock keeping procedures, but requires the use of some judgment in identifying stock, substituting stock items, and selecting and requisitioning new supplies as required. Work is evaluated through occasional physical check of items stored and accuracy of records maintained. Job responsibilities include the following:
