This posting is for an Engineering Specialist II position in the Division 3 Construction Unit. The position provides engineering assistance to the DCE and ADCE in the Division Construction Office. The duties include conducting a wide range of project construction administration tasks for Division and Central let contracts with state and/or federal funding including project authorization, WBS number funding, monthly estimates, project acceptance, final estimates, final documents, supplemental agreements, claims, project guarantees, construction quality index evaluations, project closeout, closing project WBS numbers, etc. The position performs various project estimate and record checks Division-wide to determine adherence to the specifications and Construction Manual and exercises a wide range of decision-making and judgment. The position maintains detailed records for construction projects during the life of the contract, analyzes findings and recommends corrective actions. The position will also perform other duties as assigned by the Division Construction Engineer.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:

  • Experience performing work-related task/duties independently or with limited supervision.

  • Proficiency in the use of personal computer and ability to utilize contract administration software including HiCams, SharePoint, SAP, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, etc.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with co-workers, management, contractors, and general public to express complex technical and/or program concepts and related facts in a clear, concise, and organized manner.

  • Experience in reading and interpreting highway construction plans, contracts, provisions, and specifications.

  • Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction materials and equipment, and/or construction inspection.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate's degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology or Survey Technology from an appropriately accredited institution and seven (7) years of progressive technician experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
