North Country Union Junior High School has an opening for a Family and Consumer Science teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. We seek an individual who holds (or is eligible for) a Vermont Educators License in the area of Family and Consumer Sciences, including grades 7 and 8. A successful candidate can implement strategies that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning of life skills experiences.Qualifications: Passionate about teaching and learning, as well as an in-depth knowledge and background in Family and Consumer Sciences including: o Clothing, textiles and sewingo Nutrition, foods and cookingo Interior designo Child and human developmento Financial literacy Knowledge and understanding of middle school children and programs. Student-centered learning (be able to describe and cite examples of this from his/her own practice).
Strong collegial skills and examples of working with others to achieve great learning experiences for students--working together is a must, not an option. Effective use of technology to improve student learning and prepare students for the 21st century. Strong communication skills and knowledge of standards-based instruction. A love of working with middle-school students; someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty because they know that teaching is a noble profession and serving students is a worthy pursuit.
