Municipal Water/Wastewater Operator

North Middleton Authority is seeking a hardworking and energetic candidate to join our team. This is a position where experience is needed. This candidate will be trained in-house by current staff members to learn the operation of the wastewater treatment system, water distribution system and maintenance and repair of these systems. The position is Full-time employment based upon a normal 40-hour work week. Overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 hours per week at the rate of 1.5 x regular hourly pay. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with rotating weekends.

Work Tasks:

· Basic laboratory tests on water and wastewater samples

· Facility clean-up

· Sewage Pump Station checks

· Water meter readings

· PA One-calls

· Water and sewer line locating

· Read water interconnect meters

· Perform routine equipment maintenance

· Sewer main and lateral repairs

· Water main and service repairs

· Fire Hydrant service

· Computer data entry

· Respond to emergency call-outs

Qualifications:

· Willing and eager to learn in order to complete the work tasks listed.

· Obtain the knowledge and skills to acquire Certified Operator status within three (3) years of employment.

· High school diploma

· Mechanically inclined

· Valid Commercial Driver license (Class B)

· Communicate clearly

· Experience working around heavy equipment and excavation sites

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands described below are representative of those required for the position.

· Work is performed indoors and outdoors, in all types of weather conditions.

· Walking, standing; stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing, twisting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds

· Descend and climb ladders

· Working on irregular surfaces or heights above the ground
