North Ridge Health and Rehab is Hiring a Lead Child Day Care Teacher Near Minneapolis, MN

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides a stable and safe environment for toddlers and infants in the day care setting. Responsible for planning, implementing and supervising the on-going curriculum planning. Responsible for performing duties in conformance with policies and procedures and assures that other Child Day Care staff are in conformance. Takes initiative and exercises independent judgment on departmental functions as necessary. Responsible for communicating pertinent information with the parents. Must be pleasant, respectful and courteous to residents, children, families, visitors and fellow employees at all times.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for managing the Day Care.
  • Assigns the staff schedules when Child Day Care Director is absent.
  • Maintains master calendar of events.
  • Instructs and supervises aides, assistants and teachers.
  • Understands and implements Child Day Care rules and regulations.
  • Assures that staff comply with the Child Day Care rules and regulations.
  • Communicates upcoming events with staff.
  • Assures the children's physical, mental, psychological and intellectual development needs are met.
  • Plans social, recreational and educational programs.
  • Plans and coordinates intergenerational programs in conjunction with Care Center
Coordinates activities of daily living for children.
  • Washes children's hands; when they enter the day care, before and after meals/snacks, and after diapering/toileting.
  • Serves meals and assists in feeding.
  • Changes diapers and assists children who are toilet training.
  • Assists in dressing and grooming of children.
  • Uses positive verbal and non-verbal communication.
Reports and records child and parent information.
  • Oversees the attendance records.
  • Addresses parent concerns.
  • Maintains and updates child's records.
  • Supervises the parent/teacher conferences.
  • Consults the RN concerning child's physical condition.
  • Assures accident reports are documented properly.
  • Supervises proper sanitizing of toys, equipment, blankets, and cots.
  • Monitors safety of all equipment.
  • Refers parents to community resources.
Attends Child Day Care Meetings.
  • Meets weekly with the Child Day Care Director.
  • Attends the monthly in-service and planning meeting.
  • Acquires in-service hours as specified by the Department of Human Services.
Performs miscellaneous duties.
  • Greets children upon arrival.
  • Knows and upholds all policies and procedures.
  • Interviews new parents.
  • Evaluates the Child Day Care program plan annually.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Job Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities
  • Post-secondary Certificate as Child Development Assistant with one year experience; or
  • A.A. or B.A. degree from an accredited college with 18 credits in child development training courses; or
  • Pre-kindergarten license by the Department of Education.
  • Prefer two years of professional experience with infants.
  • Understands and enjoys children.
  • Ability to make decisions.
  • Must initiate new programs.
  • Must have proven supervisory and leadership abilities.
  • Prefer experience dealing with the elderly.
  • Must demonstrate skills in proper record keeping.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must be able to perform physical job demands of position.
  • Exercises confidentiality to ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulations.
