CONTRACT DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE (FUNDRAISING)

NORTH SEA MARITIME CENTER, 501(c)(3)

The North Sea Maritime Center (“NSMC”) is a 501 c (3) non-for-profit organized to accomplish a first-class restoration of a renowned boat building located at one of the most historic and beautiful sights on the South Fork to create a center for environmental education, access and enjoyment of the Peconic estuary (designated by The Nature Conservancy as one of the Last Great Places in the Western Hemisphere)

LOCATION

NSMC is headquartered in North Sea, Southampton, NY. The Development Associate will be expected to work remotely as needed and to appear at fundraising events. 

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Development Associate will provide support for the President and Directors of the NSMC, administering the department’s day-to-day logistics. It is a part-time contract position for approximately 8-10 hours a week, as needed. Compensation is $25-27/hr. depending upon experience. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

  • Assist donors in making gifts in-person, over the phone or through or website.
  • Support donors in resolving donation issues, i.e., following up on missing credit card information.
  • Review and code donation checks, manage record keeping, and generate reports as requested.
  • Maintain donor records; perform daily data entry, and execute weekly mail merges to generate donor acknowledgements.
  • Create changes to donor records, including entering new donors and updating address changes.
  • Maintain and track information of monthly Sustaining Donor members and matching gifts.
  • Assist with invitation mailing process for our fundraising events, guest lists and track responses in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool.
  • Retain and manage donor appreciation.
  • Work with the Treasurer to develop a system for reporting cash management with checks and credit card deposits.
  • Schedule meetings and calls for presentations.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations for Board and Committee meetings.
  • Other projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3- years of administrative experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, preferably at a nonprofit agency.
  • Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in maintaining confidentiality
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills, including calendar management
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable working with new technology
  • Working knowledge of donor management CRM (e.g., Little Green Light) is strongly preferred, but not required.

Key Performance Indicators

The emphasis is on results, relationship building, and effective use of Organizational systems. The goal is to cultivate or steward gifts from individuals, foundations, and planned giving.

  • Find and secure new donors >$3,000
  • Assist in planning and executing events to drive awareness and engagement.
