Summary:
The Library Media and Digital Specialist provides the leadership and expertise necessary to develop, implement, and maintain information media within ISD 622. This position supports district and building leadership in training and directing the work of Library Media Educational Assistants. The work includes evaluating, selecting, and procuring current, accurate, and relevant print and digital resources and related equipment within ISD 622 classrooms and school libraries. This position also supports aligning practices in school libraries and implementing the digital resource, Destiny Library Manager, and the learning management system, Schoology. This position consults and collaborates with K-12 staff and administration in information and technology literacy standards, and will support content-specific work within Teaching & Learning.

Required Qualifications:
  • A current or in the process of obtaining a MN K - 12 Library Media Specialist License.
  • Minimum 5-years of classroom teaching or school media experience.
  • Proficient with Schoology and ISD 622 instructional technology.
  • Strong understanding of the area of instructional methods and theory.
  • Ability to effectively plan and facilitate professional development in small and large groups.
  • Awareness of one's own racial and cultural identities and demonstrated ability to work across differences.
  • Proven experience creating and maintaining strong relationships working in partnership with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Effective interpersonal communication, organization, and technology skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Strong project management abilities and a growth mindset.
  • Experience supervising or directing the work for Educational Assistants and/or Paraprofessionals.
  • Strong technology integration skills an experience maintaining website content.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in education or curriculum and instruction, and current MN K - 12 Library Media Specialist License.
  • Experience as a secondary teacher and/or Library Media & Digital Specialist (TOSA).
  • Expert in Destiny Library Management system.
  • Experience vetting, selecting, and maintaining school and classroom libraries.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Support the implementation of the District 622 Strategic Plan.
  • Lead, support, and maintain the learning management system, Schoology. This includes providing PD to staff and leaders, monitoring questions/troubleshooting, and communicating directly with Schoology and staff.
  • Utilizes district-supported systems to develop and maintain a collection of print media, non-print media, and technology for employees and students.
  • Assists in monitoring media and technology needs, usage, and trends.
  • Assists with the selection of developmentally appropriate media and technology resources.
  • Monitors and maintains content on the district and school library media website pages, in collaboration with the ISD 622 Communications team.
  • Communicates information about digital and media learning to all stakeholders.
  • Creates, monitors, and maintains accurate records and other documents.
  • Coordinate the implementation of district and school initiatives, designing and implementing job-embedded professional development for supporting school libraries and Schoology.
  • This district-wide position requires daily travel to school sites.
  • This position works closely, and at times under the direction of the Technology Integration Coordinator.
  • Support district professional development and new educator programming.
  • This position follows a flex calendar, which includes time to support new educator programming work and building transition support. Additional work time in the summer, if needed, will be paid at the curriculum hourly rate for professional development or curriculum writing.
  • This position may also support other content areas as needed, and directed by Teaching and Learning. This work may include but is not limited to, supporting the curriculum review process of materials and secondary MN academic standards implementation.
  • This position may sub as needed, due to sub shortages.
