SUMMARY:

NET/NCC is seeking a Director of Youth Engagement and Advocacy who will support as a Mentor in working with youth justice initiatives participants ages 13 to 18. Reporting to executive level leadership, this Director will develop and oversee a NET/NCC Youth Committee, mentorship programming activitiesincluding group workshops and individual mentorship sessions. These activities will take place virtually, on-site, and in the community. This leader will research innovative and best practices as it relates to youth engagement and advocacy programs and make recommendation and/or initiate planning activities once programming ideas are approved. This leader will conduct trauma/EBP circles and interventions as well as post-crisis reviews with youth participating in select NET/NCC programs.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Engage in one-on-one relationships with mentees and their families, including, but not limited to, scheduling and facilitating individual mentorship meetings in participant's homes and in the community several times per week and scheduling and participating in family events and outings.

Evaluation of service delivery and engagement of youth participating in services at NET/NCC

Facilitate group programming including, but not limited to, community engagement projects, group outings, weekly trauma informed group sessions, restorative justice circles, and workshops on topics related to positive youth development and skill-building, and leadership development.

Carry out accurate and adequate case planning for mentees, including scheduling and participating in meetings related to mentees' well-being, as well as family team meetings, school meetings, meetings with external service providers, court appearances, and probation meetings as needed

Act as point person for participant’s support systemsuch as family members, neighborhood supports, and school staff as needed.

Utilize online databases to track participant activities and outcomes.

Participate in NET/NCC all-staff meetings, committees, and staff development activities.

Attend NCC/NET events or community meetings after hours or on weekends.

Occasional interstate travel can be a requirement.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited college or university with a major in the social work, criminal justice, human services, or related field.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in Child Welfare, Social Services, Juvenile Justice with at least 3 years supervisory experience.

Independent Project Management Experience is a plus.

Strong knowledge related to child welfare, social services, and case-management as it relates to servicing delinquent/dependent children and youth.

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel at the intermediate to advanced level.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Advanced oral and written communication skills to effectively problem-solve.

Must be a team player, patient, flexible, and can multi-task.

Must have valid driver’s license.
