About The OpportunityThe Associate Director is responsible for managing recruitment training and implementation across the undergraduate admissions team. Reporting to the Director of Admissions Engagement, the Associate Director of Admissions Recruitment works closely with the Director of Global Enrollment Strategies to execute an effective recruitment strategy, delegate territory assignments, and train and support staff in Northeastern’s Global Campus Network messaging and travel.
Occasional night or weekend work will be required.
QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have extensive experience using admission databases, generating, and analyzing reports, working with relational databases, as well as mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint. The candidate will need to perform extensive data analysis, maintain data integrity, and understand the department's data needs. This person must be comfortable with new technology, be innovative and a problem solver; experience implementing new technologies preferred.
Preferred candidates will have significant experience in managing staff, developing recruitment strategies, and creating training and support resources. Additionally, they will have experience managing higher education admissions operational processes or work in a similar environment. Strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to build strong professional relationships internally and externally are a must. This position is critical to analyzing and improving work-flow processes and thinking strategically about future needs of the Global Campus Network. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, small team environment, manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and meet firm deadlines. The ability to monitor progress and results, coupled with wise use of human and financial resources, is expected. They should demonstrate strong leadership, judgment and maturity, attention to detail, ability to work with a variety of skill levels and interface with the broader college community. Knowledge and skills are normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree with at least three years of relevant experience; advanced degree strongly preferred.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and Implement Recruitment Strategy
  • Design and implement a teamwide student and region-focused recruitment strategy in an ever-changing admission landscape in collaboration with the Director of Admissions Engagement and Director of Global Enrollment Strategies.
  • Convey clear and concise directions on how to engage with stakeholders and improve brand awareness and interest in Northeastern undergraduate programming.
  • Review customer service trends and stay informed of industry trends to create initiatives that support process and program improvements.
  • Partner with Marketing and Slate teams to implement processes on how to market events and effectively collect student inquiries.
  • Collaborate and maintain consortium partnerships to develop and execute programming for prospective students and counselors.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director of Training and New Initiatives to build out all aspects of counselor fly-in programs across all 3 campuses.
  • Maintain NACAC and NEACAC membership status for the team as well as register for and initiate coverage plans for events.
Lead Recruitment Function Group and Manage Training
  • Lead the Recruitment Function Group by delegating tasks including coverage plans, training topics, and data collection.
  • Review and share feedback on prospective student marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Training and New Initiatives to create a training plan for the summer including the full staff, August training week.
  • Develop roundtable discussion topics to offer the team the ability to share resources and messaging tips.
  • Maintaining clear communication with the Director of Global Enrollment Strategies and Director of Admissions Engagement on any operational issues which may impact the recruitment season.
Territory Management
  • As needed plan, design, and implement an effective recruitment strategy for an assigned geographic area. The strategy should include efficient and cost-effective travel management in these territories while meeting office and Northeastern expectations and priorities.
  • Meet with, counsel, and inform prospective students, parents, and school counselors. Information presented should be accurate and up-to-date, and professionalism should always be maintained.
  • Evaluate applications for the assigned travel territory using a specific evaluation process. The reviews should be thorough and accurate; careful attention to detail is required; all decisions should be made using professional judgement.
Staff Management & Development
  • Directly supervise a team of two to four professional staff members.
  • Oversee the workflow in the office and shifting responsibilities when necessary.
  • Act as a committee lead in the application review process.
  • Advocate for team members and delegate work based on team priorities.
  • Orient new team members of the staff to office functions and oversee training for temporary help.
  • Regularly evaluating staff and providing mentoring and coaching to ensure professional growth and development of staff as well as the highest level of service to students, parents, and other constituents critical to the recruitment, admission, and enrollment efforts.
Strategic Enrollment Planning, Implementation, and Reporting
  • Understanding the numerical and non-numerical goals for the incoming class, working with the Director of Global Enrollment Strategies and Director of Admissions Engagement to support the development of an enrollment strategy.
  • Support yield initiatives for off-campus events including location, marketing plan, and staffing.
  • Support Colleges across the university on major-specific recruitment efforts.
Contribute to a Positive Work Environment
  • Acts as team player with a strong work ethic, who actively contributes to the office welfare in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across units and be sensitive and responsive to the needs of diverse constituencies.
  • Models strong communication and advocacy skills in a professional setting.
