NORTHERN VIRGINIA OPHTHALMOLOGY ASSOCIATES PC is Hiring a HR Manager Near Fairfax, VA

Northern Virginia Ophthalmology Associates, P.C. seeks a highly qualified Human Resources Manager. We are a busy, 18-doctor, patient-centered private practice with three offices in the Northern Virginia Area (Falls Church, Fairfax, and Alexandria). This is an on-site position based in our Falls Church office; however, travel between all offices will be required.

Job Summary:

The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department, including hiring and interviewing staff, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The HRM will also be the backup to the staff accountant for administering pay.

Responsibilities:

• Recruits, interviews, hires, and onboarding new practice staff.

• Maintains the daily workflow of human resources within the practice.

• Works with department managers to provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.

• Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy, particularly concerning current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.

• Provide support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances, such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations. Process FMLA requests, LOA, etc.

• Manages the talent acquisition process, including recruitment, interviewing, and hiring qualified job applicants, and collaborates with departmental managers to understand the skills and competencies required for openings.

• Onboarding and offboarding of all employees. Including benefits enrollment and assistance with Employee Navigator account set-up and answering benefits questions.

• Maintaining employee records, managing HR systems, handling HR documentation, and reporting

• Assists with payroll as needed.

• Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.

• Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees. Via ADP learning center or outside webinars

• Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Walks managers through the initial disciplinary process.

• Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

• Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

• Policy development: develops and implements HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations.

• Employee engagement: developing initiatives to promote employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Implementing extra days off during the year, recognition of employees by giving gift cards, thank you gifts via the thnks app, and handwritten thank you notes.

• Performance management: developing and implementing performance management systems, conducting performance evaluations, and providing feedback and coaching to employees.

• Assist with physician credentialing, CAQH, individual insurance, surgery centers, licensing, etc.

• Travel between all offices to establish relationships with all employees. I have an open-door policy and all employees know they can, and do reach out to me when needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

• Experience with ADP Workforce Now and Employee Navigator a plus.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.

• A minimum of three years of human resource management experience is preferred.

• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is highly desired.
