Minimum is $19.50/hour for Teller, $22.00/hour for Universal Banker IPosition SummaryThe Senior Payroll Specialist performs all phases of multi-company and multi-jurisdictional payroll, and maintains the payroll, compensation, and timekeeping systems. This position assists with the administration of employee benefits. The following duties are intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional duties. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Review and verify payroll data in a timely manner. Work with vendor and bank management to ensure timekeeping logs are appropriately maintained and approved.
Responsible for processing and maintaining loan commission software to ensure accurate calculation of loan commissions paid monthly.
Respond to routine inquiries concerning payroll deductions and accruals, wage garnishments, child support payments, and employment verifications.
Process garnishments and incentive/sales/referral bonuses.
Assist the Payroll Manager to record and process federal and state payroll tax deposits.
Verify accuracy of updates to employee records, including address changes, promotions, and transfers by reviewing personnel change forms.
Monitor and maintain leave accruals in accordance with policy.
Coordinate information in preparation of payroll related audits, for example, worker’s compensation, unemployment compensation, IRS, etc.
Coordinate year end payroll processing including the preparation and distribution of W-2 forms and state forms in a timely manner.
Assist with the development and implementation of payroll practices, policies, and procedures.
Assist with employee benefits to include accuracy in deductions through payroll, reconciliation of vendor invoices, timely remittance of employee deductions, communication with employees and reports for management.
Assist with educational opportunities such as open enrollment, 401(k) presentations, benefits orientation and other trainings for employees.
Complete online, written and in-person compliance training within established timeframes.
Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation
Associate’s degree in Business or Accounting.
Two years of payroll experience may be substituted for degree.
Experience
Three years of payroll or accounting experience.
Human Resources or Benefits experience preferred.
Related military education/experience may be used as a substitute for education or work experience.
Licenses & Certifications
Pursuit of Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is encouraged/preferred.
Knowledge & Communication Skills
Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Understand balancing concepts and the effects of debits and credits.
Must be able to communicate effectively with employees, management, directors, and vendors.
Ability to assist employees graciously with respect to their payroll.
Exceptional communicator with the talent to easily identify issues, problems or concerns and mentor staff to self-discover resolutions and solutions.
Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to comprehend, analyze, and effectively communicate business memorandums, technical procedures, and government regulations.
Must understand and have the ability to implement applicable compliance requirements.
Analytical & Decision Making Skills
Self-directed, able to work independently without supervision, and be able to prioritize multiple projects to meet firm deadlines.
Ability to perform complex accounting functions.
Able to make recommendations to increase efficiencies or improve procedures.
Computer/Software/Other Equipment Skills
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as PC, printer, fax/copier, and telephone.
