Northwest Acute Care Specialists is Hiring a Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) Near Portland, OR

This position is located at Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. 

Northwest Acute Care Specialists, P.C. (NACS) is an independent emergency medicine and ambulatory care practice group that contracts exclusively with Legacy Health to provide emergency medicine and urgent care professional services. 

Job Summary

The APP is an integral part of the Emergency Medical team and assists the flow and direct care of the patients within the Emergency Department at Randall Children's Hospital. They can either be a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP).

Our EDs are staffed at all times by a Board-Certified Emergency Physicians. The APPs are an important member of the Emergency Department team and must have the ability to function efficiently, at times independently without direct supervision, and collectively within the team setting.

NACS APPs are required to comply within their scope of practice, hospital credentials, other laws, regulations, NACS policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University or College
  • Master’s Degree as required by specific Advanced Practice Provider role 
  • Demonstrated ability to satisfy standards of performance delineated by law and associated professional practice standards, the latter set forth as an addendum to the position description 
  • Ability to manage heavy workload with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Proficient in the use of computing hardware and software, including personal computing equipment, electronic medical record, word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Regular and consistent attendance at work
  • Current licensure as required by specific Advanced Practice Provider governing board(s)
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner or certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Must have a current Oregon NP or PA license prior to start date
  • Current PALS certification. 
  • Registered with Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and authorized to prescribe medications according to the Washington State Board of Medicine

 Preferred

  • Previous Emergency Medicine experience as a PA or NP

Position Duties

Clinical Activities

  • Assessing and treating urgent care and emergency care patients. Collaborate with other members of the team on patient care in a timely manner 
  • Diagnosing and prescribing therapy based on assessments and patient-provided subjective data 
  • Routing patient to higher level of care as appropriate 

Administrative Activities

  • Assistance in decreasing cost through the development and use of protocols and practice guidelines

Other Activities

  • Participating in Emergency Department quality assurance activities 
  • Enhancement of cost effectiveness and quality of care
  • Increase patient satisfaction indicated by an improvement in satisfaction scores
