Position: Secondary Interventionist, Part Time Location: Glen Lake Middle School Reports to: Middle School Principal Pay Rate: Starting salary is based on the GLFT Master Agreement. Schedules can be found on page 24 of the Master Agreement. Start Date: August 2024 The Intervention Specialist at Glen Lake provides direct academic support to Tier I and Tier II students identified as at-risk for reading proficiency. For any year there are more than one Intervention Specialist assigned to Glen Lake, it is expected that these employees will work together with a collective responsibility to provide support to students facing academic challenges. Qualifications: ? Deep understanding of adolescent development ? Previous experience working with middle school students ? Ability to work independently with a sense of urgency to focus on student progress ? Dependable, reliable, and protective of sensitive/confidential information ? Passion to support the safety, care, and mental health of students ? Understand that connections are essential to foster learning ? Understand that high expectations are necessary for all students ? Understand the importance of a whole child philosophy ? Strong work ethic and ability to support colleagues and students ? Highly qualified secondary educator, 6-8,6-12 Responsibilities: ? Teach TIER II Reading interventions both as pull-out and push-in ? Identify qualifying students needing TIER II interventions ? Develop appropriate groupings based on NWEA learning continuum strands ? Develop appropriate lessons with specific learning goals (targets) ? Determine appropriate materials/programs to support instruction using our Matrix ? Track student progress and flex groupings based on data ? Provide ongoing support to teachers of students who are receiving Tier II interventions ? Support proctoring the NWEA, M-STEP, PSAT/SAT and/or district assessments for identified students ? Provide Principal monthly data updates regarding population serviced and their progress ? Communicate and provide progress reports to families of students receiving supports ? Support teachers in implementing appropriate TIER I and II reading and math interventions – meet during common preps where necessary with grade level teams to plan together ? Provide summer support ideas, materials, or service suggestions to identified students ? Research Tier I and II materials, support systems, professional development, or interventions where our program is lacking or needs refining Other qualifications are considered in the final selection of a person to fill this important position.
