Director, Nighthawks Fund

Description of Position

The Director of Nighthawks Fund is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive annual giving program for the Nighthawks Fund, which seeks gifts on a recurring annual bases to help support operational needs. The director works closely with the Department of Alumni Relations, developing relationships with alumni and friends, and strengthening the bond between donors and the university.

This position is a twelve-month, exempt position and reports to the Vice President for External Relations.

Essential Functions

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Manages and oversees a comprehensive plan of giving clubs, and the various awards and recognition programs that are a part of these groups 
  • Cultivates and stewards relationships with constituents who are current and future Nighthawks Fund donors, seeking to maintain and expand this donor base
  • Leads the planning and execution of a select number of Nighthawks Fund activities and events that provide opportunities for donors to gather together, connect with NNU, and stay updated on current happenings within the NNU community
  • Works collaboratively and in concert with the Director of Alumni Relations to develop and implement strategies to solicit alumni support and engage alumni in philanthropic activities and campaigns
  • Develops and implement methods by which the components of the Nighthawks Fund may be annually evaluated as to its effectiveness
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or a related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven excellent customer service and interpersonal attributes
  • Ability to follow through on the logistics of planning an event from start to finish
  • Computer competency with knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel, internet search engines, and ability to learn job specific programs
  • Self-starter; comfortable with ambiguity 
  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation in developing new initiatives and programs to engage alumni and friends
  • Familiarity with current trends and best practices in the advancement field
  • A commitment to use information resources ethically and to honor standards of confidentiality in working with constituent and institutional information
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to meet with constituents 
  • The University requires that all candidates be Christians (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition), and must be comfortable with, in agreement with the mission and lifestyle values of NNU

Compensation

The salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant.
