The Registered Nurse First Assistant functions in cooperation with the surgeon and staff in the operating room performing duties that are vital for the safety and care of surgical patients. This role is responsible for first assisting on orthopedic surgical procedures and coordinating all aspects of such. Registered Nurse First Assistants must have knowledge and skills in surgical aseptic techniques for preparation and use of materials during a surgical procedure. Techs must be able to relate to patients and other people in the field. Using reasonable judgement when working in emergency surgical situations is required.

ESSENTAIL FUNCTIONS:

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries. 
• Assist in patient care in compliance with company policies and procedures
• Prepares instruments and supplied for each case in an efficient and effective manner
• Utilizes preference cards and surgery schedule prior to each case
• Practice surgical procedures such as controlling bleeding and suturing incisions, draping, providing exposure, and handling tissue. 
• Assist with prompt turnover and start of surgical cases to actively promote productivity and efficient case flow. 
• Runs autoclave and documents results according to department policies and procedures. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certification as a Registered Nurse First Assistant
• BLS
• 2-3 years of OR RN experience preferred
• Orthopedic OR experience strongly preferred.

Shift:

• 4, 10 hour shifts (Day shift, no nights, no weekends)
