Northwest Youth Corps is Hiring a Sound to Summit: Youth Community Crew Near Tacoma, WA

Position: Sound to Summit Youth Community Crew
Dates: Session 1: June 24, 2024- July 26; Session 2: July 29, 2024- August 30, 2024
Location: Tacoma, Lakewood, and Olympia WA
Details: Sound to Summit crews will be comprised of youth (15-18) and 2 adult leaders. They will work for five weeks in total. The first four will be working with the local city and county parks departments completing a variety of projects. Youth will meet each morning at the crew vehicle which is centrally located in town, complete around 6.5 hours of work, have one hour of education, and then return to the original meeting location. The crews' fifth week will take them to Mt. Rainier National Park to complete conservation projects, recreate, and learn about natural resources and the outdoors. During this fifth and final week they will camp in the National park the entire time. Northwest Youth Corps will provide food, transportation, and can help provide additional required camping equipment if
needed.
Benefits/ Tuition: Receive up to $2250 ($450 per week) for participation in this service-learning program plus an additional $50 per week in bonuses. Bonus amounts are based on attendance. Participants also have the potential to earn high school credit for their time. There is a tuition cost for this educational program of $200 with scholarships available based on need.
