The Northwood School District is looking for a Director of Business Services to oversee the district’s financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, and business procedures. The successful candidate will work closely with a collaborative administration team located within the centralized 3K-12 district building, which also features a daycare available to both employees and community members.
The Northwood School District is located in beautiful northern Wisconsin. We have approximately 350 inquisitive students, a dedicated staff, and a supportive community. Our district is roughly 400 square miles including communities that have rich traditions that value education.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Creating and managing the school budget, overseeing financial reporting, and ensuring adherence to accounting procedures.
- Overseeing the allocation and procurement of resources, such as equipment, supplies, and services.
- Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding financial and administrative practices.
- Preparing and presenting financial reports to the school board and other stakeholders.
- Collaborating with other district departments on day-to-day financial operations.
- Managing the audit process, including coordinating with auditors and ensuring timely and accurate completion of audits.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting, with a Master’s degree preferred. They should have demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting, and administrative operations, ideally within an educational environment. Competence in accounting, payroll, and internal auditing principles and procedures is essential, along with familiarity with the WUFAR accounting system and Wisconsin Retirement Fund programs. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, as well as strong communication and interpersonal abilities, are required. The candidate should be adept at working collaboratively with staff, students, and the community.
A Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) School Business Administrator license #5008 is preferred, or the candidate must be willing to consider courses in school business. The position offers a competitive annual salary based on credentials and experience. Remote work opportunities along with the option to choose 4-day work weeks during the summer months.
