NOVA Engineering and Environmental is Hiring a CMT Business Unit Manager (PE) Near Greenville, SC

NOVA Engineering's Greenville, SC office is seeking a CMT Business Unit Manager for our Construction Materials Testing and Inspection Division. This role is responsible for effective management of the Materials department, management of department- or project-level financial metrics, oversight and approval of all projects and project deliverables; and client development and satisfaction. The successful candidate will oversee a team which handles a diverse portfolio of projects in construction inspection and testing, laboratory testing, construction quality control, materials selection and assessment for new construction and existing structures, and other materials engineering and consulting services for public and private sector clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall safety of the department and taking an active role in the overall safety leadership in the office.
  • Responsible for overall management of the construction materials engineering and testing/special inspection services and projects to ensure performance and profitability.
  • Manage a team of engineers and technicians, evaluate and guide their performance, and assist them in their professional development and growth.
  • Maintain project and department-level financials within expected goals and budgets.
  • Act as senior engineer when appropriate.
  • Supervise the preparation of routine proposals and quotations to clients to ensure proper scoping of services, availability of manpower, and pricing.
  • Ensure that the testing, engineering and inspection work in the office, laboratory and field are accomplished with high quality and in an orderly and efficient manner.
  • Monitor that all department personnel are properly trained, supervised and equipped with the necessary tools and equipment to ensure their personal safety in the office, laboratory, project sites, and in vehicles.
  • Work closely with clients to ensure their satisfaction and continually cultivate new projects.
  • Lead business development activities including project identification and pursuit, scope of work development, proposal preparation and development of project opportunities with new and existing clients.
  • Ensure that reports, proposals, inspections and information are properly prepared and reported, deliverable schedules are maintained, and that routine company administrative policies are followed.
  • Work closely with Office Manager on personnel planning, recruiting and training, and on the development of the departmental business plan and other planning and administrative issues.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Must have PE registration in South Carolina or able to become registered within six months of start date
  • Thorough knowledge of construction materials engineering and testing; field inspection and testing; materials engineering consulting; and management of a materials testing/geotechnical laboratory.
  • Able to pass a background check and drug test, and have an acceptable driving record
