Position: Chair, Department of Pharmacy Practice

Location: Davie-Fort Lauderdale Campus

Responsibilities:

This job description outlines the responsibilities of a within NSU Florida's College of Pharmacy department.

1. Leadership : Establishing and maintaining the department's vision, setting goals, creating an environment that supports the vision, and ensuring a student-centered culture.

2. Management : Managing the department's structure, executing plans, allocating resources, supervising staff and faculty, preparing budgets, and ensuring quality instruction and research.

3. Faculty/Staff Affairs : Overseeing faculty and staff recruitment, mentoring, professional development, and ensuring adherence to promotion and renewal policies.

4. College Executive Committee : Serving as a member of the College Executive Committee to advance the college's mission and goals.

5. Teaching and Research : Engaging in teaching, research, and service activities as a faculty member.

6. Communication : Communicating the department's needs and achievements to various stakeholders, both within and outside the university, and marketing the department effectively.

7. Special Projects : Participating in and assisting with special projects as required.

8. Other Duties : Performing other duties as assigned, such as serving on committees, review boards, and search committees, or supporting special initiatives of the university or college.

This role requires a combination of leadership, management, academic, and interpersonal skills to effectively lead the department and contribute to the university's overall mission and goals.

Required Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of teaching in higher education.
  • Demonstrated leadership, administration, and resource development ability.
  • Evidence of recent experience in teaching and/or working in the field of expertise.

Education:

  • Doctoral Degree required.
  • Eighteen (18) academic semester hours of graduate study in the teaching area.

Faculty Rank Requirements:

- For Assistant Professor: Doctoral or terminal degree in the field, college-level teaching experience, and clear promise of a successful career in teaching, scholarship, and service.

- For Associate Professor: Doctoral or terminal degree, four years of full-time university faculty experience at the rank of Assistant Professor, demonstrated professional growth, success in teaching, research/scholarship, and service, and significant scholarly or research contributions with peer recognition.

- For Professor: Doctoral or terminal degree, five years of full-time university experience at the rank of Associate Professor, continuing professional growth, success in teaching, scholarship, and service, distinction through significant scholarly or research contributions with substantial peer recognition, and exemplary service to the university and profession at the national level.
