As the Human Resources Director for the Americas, you will shape, drive, and lead the HR function across North and South America to support business development. You are accountable for implementing the HR strategy to meet organizational resource requirements through attracting, developing, and retaining talent. This role involves a blend of strategic, tactical, and operational HR responsibilities to deliver high-level HR services across several manufacturing sites in the US and Mexico.
Human Resources Director Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: 10 years of progressive HR experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Certifications: Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Leadership, HR knowledge, analytical skills, communication, collaboration, project management, technological proficiency, budget management, compliance, adaptability, and ethical standards.
  • Travel: 30% travel required.
  • Other Requirements: High-level computer expertise, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, HRIS systems experience, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Must be a strong leader, open-minded, passionate about people development, and able to work in a dynamic and proactive mode at all levels of the organization.
Human Resources Director Role & Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement HR strategies that support business objectives and foster a high-performance culture.
    • Collaborate with the Managing Director of the region and VP of HR to develop the HR strategy and infrastructure to support business needs.
  • HR Initiatives:
    • Spearhead HR initiatives ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and goals.
    • Deploy large-scale HR initiatives, programs, and processes across the region, ensuring consistency with corporate policies and local regulations.
  • Organizational Performance:
    • Act as a catalyst for organizational performance through effective leadership, linking strategy to structure, and driving transformational change.
    • Provide HR leadership for talent development across all key positions globally in our manufacturing plants and sites.
  • Workforce Planning & Analysis:
    • Develop and integrate workforce planning, talent acquisition, learning and development, performance management, employee engagement and retention, succession planning, and compensation strategies.
    • Collaborate with department heads to understand current and future workforce needs and trends.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making:
    • Influence organizational decision-making using relevant value-added metrics and data.
    • Develop a scorecard to align reports showing department achievements with appropriate metrics and goals.
  • Policy & Compliance Management:
    • Review and maintain HR policies and procedures annually, ensuring compliance and relevance.
    • Ensure compliance with all governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements, minimizing company exposure to lawsuits.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Build, develop, and manage a competent Human Resource team.
    • Support and supervise HR staff, including payroll, recruiting, new hire orientation, staff training, file management, and benefits coordination.
  • Budget Management:
    • Create, plan, prepare, and manage the annual Human Resource budget.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Ensure all new staff receive a complete orientation; establish and direct employee reward and recognition programs.
    • Monitor and advise managers on the progressive discipline system, including terminations. Conduct investigations and make recommendations to upper management regarding employee concerns.
  • Adaptability & Innovation:
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and market shifts to adapt strategies for optimal performance.
    • Drive and manage initiatives to support local communities and CSR actions.
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate strongly with the finance department and other department heads.
    • Select, supervise, and challenge HR consultants, attorneys, and training specialists; coordinate the company's use of insurance brokers, carriers, pension administrators, and other outside sources.
  • Compliance & Ethics: Ensuring that all activities comply with legal and ethical standards.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
