Due to continuous growth, Novacel requires a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to serve as a strategic, hands-on, member of the executive leadership team and a true business partner to our CEO. The CFO will be an integral part of directing financial activities and setting functional and operational strategies to continuously drive growth; establishing credibility throughout the organization as a thought leader that implements effective and efficient solutions.

This role requires excellent communication skills, across multi-functional teams, and leveraging a strong financial background to be an innovative problem solver and teambuilder. As we continue to grow, our CFO will be responsible for building and sustaining an exemplary team of financial professionals to support and enhance our sound financial management practices.

This role is based in Troy and requires minimal travel (15%).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Directs the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies.
• Oversees accounting departments, budget preparation, and audit functions. Meets regularly with department heads to keep informed and to offer direction.
• Review reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against final totals, and suggests methods of improving the planning process as appropriate.
• Analyze company operations to pinpoint opportunities and areas that need to be reorganized, downsized, or eliminated.
• Confers with the president, corporate, and division functional leaders to coordinate and prioritize planning.
• Studies long-range economic trends and projects company prospects for future growth in overall sales and market share, opportunities for acquisitions or expansion into new product areas. Estimates requirements for capital, land, buildings, and an increase in the workforce.
• Supervises investment of funds; works with banks and/or investment bankers to raise additional capital as required for expansion.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree in business administration, accounting, or finance.
• Thorough knowledge of International GAP and US GAP reporting standards.
• C.P.A. designation preferred.
• Knowledge of database and accounting computer application systems to supply the most accurate financial information.
• Eight to ten years of experience in financial management with increasing responsibilities for multi-faceted direction and planning.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
