Position Overview

The Human Resources team, located in Davenport, Iowa, is seeking an HR Specialist. The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for delivering a variety of human resource services, including, compensation, recruitment and selection, personnel administration, employee training and development, organizational development, employee and labor relations, and change management.

As a strategic partner, the HRBP aligns business objectives with employee and management in designated operating units. The HRBP serves as a consultant to management on Human Resource related issues. A successful HRBP will act as employee champion and change agent who can quickly and sustainably develop trust of managers and employees alike. The HRBP assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicating needs proactively with our HR department and business management, the HRBP seeks to develop coordinated solutions. The HRBP formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver valuable service to management and employees that reflects the strategic objectives of the organization. In addition, they will provide ground support in implementing major corporate and HR initiatives such as rollout of new policies and systems.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Participates as an advising member of the Operating Unit staff in handling daily HR-related activities in the Unit and in developing and implementing plans to meet strategic objectives and customer requirements.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management mentorship to line management (mentor, counseling, career development, employee investigations and disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase efficiency and retention.
  • Meets regularly with local union business agent and plant stewards
  • Ensures the CBA is followed by all employees
  • Provides HR policy mentorship and interpretation.
  • Recruits, selects, and hires salaried personnel for the Operating unit.
  • Identifies and supports training needs.
  • Be a Change Agent facilitator for the respective client group.
  • Present HR updates at department meetings and lead follow-ups and communications.
  • Participate in morning shift meetings and follow up on overnight employee relations issues from Crew Leader report outs.
  • Facilitate employee relations issues for unit employees.
  • Address employee comp and benefit issues.
  • Facilitate organizational planning within department as part of plant-wide template.
  • Architect (SME) for a HR Process and implement via HRBPs.
  • Participate in weekly HR meetings.
  • Participate in HR project teams; and own HR projects.
  • Leads all aspects of one or more of the following areas for the plant, serving as a subject matter authority and coordinates and advise on plant-wide activities:
  • Talent & Succession Management
  • Compensation
  • EDP/Technical Talent Management
  • Recruitment, Selection & Hiring – Hourly
  • Employee & Labor Relations

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in HR or related subject area.
  • 3 years previous experience in HR

Preferred qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
