Position Overview

The Sales & Marketing team, located in Novi, Michigan, is seeking a Sr. Automotive Commercial Sales Manager! The primary function of the Sr. Automotive Commercial Sales Manager is to support and handle the growth of commercial accounts while directly leading, developing, and mentoring the supporting sales staff. This role focuses on improving the commercial automotive business growth and profitability to achieve the company’s long-term growth plan and individual customer plans. The role must keep good relationships with key accounts and work collaboratively with them to identify “win/win” solution selling and co-engineering opportunities in collaboration with the company's Customer Solution Center!

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a matrixed OEM customer team that efficiently partners with supply chain, quality, program management, technical product development, inside sales, technical service, CLR metal scrap, and product management.
  • Direct management, supervision, development, and mentoring of the supporting sales staff within the assigned EOM account.
  • Coordinates the day-to-day activities (pricing, contract management, supply chain, program management, solution selling, CLR scrap with the metal team) with respective finance, IT, and procurement support functions.
  • Forecast and track volume in coordination with the inside sales team and Novelis operations/supply chain.
  • Engage at a managerial level by building positive relationships and drives commercial positioning for Novelis
  • Develop customer-specific OEM customer plans in collaboration with the Sales & Marketing Director, Technical Development Director, and Product Management Director Teams. The customer plans will be tied to the overall automotive long-term growth plan, with key performance indicators tracked monthly.
  • Assists in finding opportunities for new sales by understanding market demand and collaborates with the customers, Novelis Mills, and Global R&D Center/Novi Customer Solution Center to identify new solutions leading and supporting the Technical Development Engineer Matrix Team Member.
  • Collaborate with the other Novelis NNE/NA automotive regions to leverage our geographical presence, explore market opportunities, and conduct marketing research along with the Product Management Team.
  • Be the voice of customers at all weekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings guiding Novelis to be the supplier of choice for all aluminum body sheet products.
  • Achieve results on the annual goals as agreed upon, revenue, profitability, Scrap return, and solution selling. Build a strong matrix OEM team through organization and leadership

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance (or a related field), or Engineering.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing company, preferably with automotive industry experience.
  • Ability to travel to client and plant locations within North America
  • Experience in leading others and developing a team
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, planning, and scheduling, capital project planning and implementation, finance and budgeting, quality systems, metallurgy, and maintenance
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to deliver results and build strong teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as the auto market is fast evolving into BEV and Autonomous Vehicles.
  • Proven track record to meet tight deadlines with emphasis on sustained accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and written skills and ability to influence others in a matrix team environment.

Novelis’ Novi office is located twenty-five miles northwest of the heart of the motor city. Its 50 employees provide dedicated commercial technical and recycling teams for Novelis’ growing automotive customer base.
