Novo is Hiring a HR Administrative Assistant Near Anaheim, CA

Novo, a global Christian ministry headquartered in Anaheim CA, is looking for a HR Administrative Assistant to join our HR team. The right candidate should possess a positive attitude and able to effectively perform the functions related to the day-to-day operations of the HR department. Prior HR experience and alignment with Novo's Christian beliefs and a desire to serve in Christian ministry is a requirement of this position. This position is full time and requires a minimum work schedule of 32 hours weekly, and reports to the Director of Human Resources. Remote work will be considered for candidates with adequate HR and remote work experience.

Responsibilities

The HR Admin Assistant is responsible to provide help and support to the HR Director in the day-to-day operations of the HR department. This includes:

  • The provision of timely and efficient response to HR inquiries and acting as a first point of contact to staff and financial partners. 
  • Manage all aspects of the HR system (HRIS) by gaining expert knowledge of the system and keeping up to date with all system updates and changes. This includes routine maintenance, accuracy and integrity of staff data, personnel records, managing access levels and approval processes, communication settings, etc.
  • Organization and coordination of HR team projects.
  • Maintain the accuracy of staff records in the HRIS and hard copy files. Creates new staff records and disposes of old records in compliance with state legal standards. 
  • Manage all onboarding and offboarding events and maintains accurate processes in the HRIS.
  • Assist managers with recruiting and evaluating new team members using the hiring portal. Performs first-level reviews of candidates and conducts interviews, and assists the HR Administrator with the staffing process for ministry staff.
  • Keep HR procedures updated in the company database.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Critical Skills

  • A college degree in Human Resources or a related field plus prior job experience with a minimum of one (1) year in Human Resources. Will primarily consider candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience in Human Resources. 
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with a multi-state, global HR function.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of HR systems, human resource matters, hiring and termination policies, and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information is required.
  • Tech savvy with the proven ability to use various digital tools and technologies to complete job tasks efficiently and effectively. This includes the use of computer systems, ideally in the Mac environment, the ability to navigate the internet, and use common software applications, such as Microsoft Office. Prior experience with HR information systems is essential.
  • Good numeracy and data entry skills. 
  • Well organized and motivated, with the proven ability to remain diligent with projects and handle multiple priorities simultaneously, a high level of personal accountability, strong attention to details and meeting strict deadlines. 
  • Adaptable and self motivated with the ability to quickly learn and implement, and good problem-solving skills.
  • An excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills. 
  • Prior experience working in a nonprofit or ministry environment is preferred.
