Role summary:

This person will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and be responsible for overseeing all manufacturing operations at a mass production synthetic graphite manufacturing facility. This role requires a strategic leader with deep experience in large-scale manufacturing processes, ideally within the battery or advanced materials industries. The VP of Manufacturing will ensure the efficient and cost-effective production of high-quality synthetic graphite, lead a successful team of Plant Managers, and drive continuous improvement and innovation across NOVONIX Anode Materials (NAM).

This position is fully onsite and working from our Riverside facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Currently, the working hours for this role are 8-to-10-hour days with on-call expectations for emergencies and critical issues. There also may be longer hours required during peak production periods or when specific projects demand increased oversight. Please note that as our company evolves, working arrangements, locations, and hours may change to meet business needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement strategic manufacturing plans in alignment with company goals.
  • Oversee the entire manufacturing process, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead and manage a team of Plant Managers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Optimize production processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
  • As a member of the senior leadership team, collaborate with R&D, engineering, and other departments to drive innovation and process improvements.
  • Manage the budget for the manufacturing department, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Implement and maintain KPIs to monitor and improve manufacturing performance.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Represent the manufacturing function in executive leadership discussions and decision-making.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You are:

  • A graduate with a bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • A professional with 10 years of experience in manufacturing leadership roles.
  • Experienced in leading large-scale manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledgeable regarding materials or powder manufacturing processing.
  • A highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative.
  • Able to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization.

  • Knowledge regarding high temperature continuous induction-based graphitization processes.
  • Experience and knowledge of lean principles (Six Sigma, 5S, lean manufacturing, etc.)
