Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas is Hiring a Senior Financial Controller Near Dallas, TX

FUNCTION:

The Senior Financial Controller will be a strategic leader and thought partner for the Executive Leadership Team and the Officers of the Board. The successful candidate will be a hands-on and participative manager and will lead an outsourced team to support the areas of finance, business planning, and budgeting. They will also serve as a strategic thought partner with the COO in the partnered areas of Donor Services, Human Resources, and IT.

The Senior Financial Controller will play a critical role in partnering with the senior leadership team in strategic decision making and operations as the Federation continues to enhance its. This is a tremendous opportunity for a finance leader to maximize and strengthen the capacity of a well-respected, high-impact organization.

REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer

SUPERVISES: Outsourced Finance Team (Armanino)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Oversees and manages the outsourced finance team partnership with Armanino

Staffs the Finance, Investment, Audit and Retirement Committees of the Federation.

In collaboration with the Board Chair, Treasurer, and Executive Leadership Team, provides timely and accurate reports and analysis of budgets, monthly financials and financial trends, assisting Management and the Board to monitor and respond to current operations and external financial environments.

Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all internal and external processes.

Develop, drive, and support the budgeting process.

Oversee accounts, ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.

Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts. Manage working capital.

Comply with tax and audit protocols. Ensure timely filing of all appropriate tax returns and other governmental filings.

Plan and coordinate the annual financial audits of the JFGD serving as the liaison with external auditors.

Serve as an effective member of the Leadership Team, bringing expertise in assigned areas to bear on the overall management of the Federation.

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting required. MBA or CPA required.

Experience: At least seven years experience in senior financial roles; five – seven years of successful management and leadership experience in all aspects of accounting, with three or more years in the philanthropic or non-profit area preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • High level knowledge and experience in non-profit accounting, public charitable financial organizations, and budget management.
  • Strong knowledge of various finance planning and analysis tools
  • Experience in integrating IT systems, automating transaction processing, and other process efficiencies
  • Proven capability in defining KPIs and producing analytics to track organizational performance

  • Ability to develop, implement, and train on effective accounting policies and procedures
  • Robust analytical and Excel skills

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION

Position Type:

This is a full time, exempt level position with a target salary of $130,000 to $160,000. It qualifies for all benefit packages. For more information see the Employee Manual.

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policies, procedures and data; maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Must be physically able to operate computers and office equipment; occasional bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and twisting; constant walking, speaking and listening; frequent sitting and maintaining close visual attention to the computer; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
