NSF EPC is Hiring an Assistant Construction Superintendent Near Rochester, NY

ASSISTANT SITE SUPERINTENDENT

SUMMARY: The Assistant Site Superintendent will contribute to the successful construction and operation of solar farm projects. The Assistant Site Superintendent will work closely with the Site Superintendent to oversee all aspects of construction, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Pay Range: $60,000-$80,000 (Pay information will vary depending upon relevant experience for the position)

DEPARTMENT : NSF EPC

REPORTS TO: Site Superintendent

TERMS/HOURS: Full-time

CLASSIFICATION: Salary/Exempt; Travel will be required

WORK AUTHORIZATION: US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in Project Planning:

  • Collaborate and assist with the Site Superintendent in developing project plans, and schedules. Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure alignment of project objectives.
  • Get familiar with SOW’s and material installation manuals.

On-site Supervision:

  • Support the Site Superintendent in managing day-to-day construction activities on-site.
  • Monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations.
  • Material deliveries: Oversee any and all material deliveries and collection of signed delivery tickets. Included is the prompt follow-up on back-ordered materials.
  • Conduct weekly inspections to ensure site signage is intact and compliant.
  • Take daily photos of site conditions and workplace and upload photo album and daily log onto Procore.
  • Miscellaneous SWPPP maintenance: Oversee items that require immediate attention and are minimal in nature to ensure SWPPP compliance.
  • Conduct SWPPP inspections post rainfall and report inspections into Procore.

Quality Control:

  • Assisting with daily informal QA inspections.
  • Assisting with QA inspections on subcontractor QA work.
  • Conduct inspections to verify workmanship, materials, and compliance with design specifications.
  • Identify and address any deficiencies promptly to maintain quality standards.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Assist with Maintaining accurate records in Procore project activities, including daily and weekly reports, progress updates, and safety documentation.
  • Assist with As-Built Drawings: Determine accurate locations for red lined field changes.
  • Assist with accurate & timely upload of subcontractor information into Procore:

-JSA documents/daily log.

-Hot work permit documents/daily log.

-Incident reports documents/daily log.

-Equipment checks documents/daily log.

-Trench inspections documents/daily log.

-Operator certificates documents/daily log.

-Hoisting plan documents/daily log.

-Submittals and submittal reviews.

  • Assist with Review of SWPPP reports weekly and work with Site superintendent to remedy deficiencies when noted.
  • Keep track of and record daily manpower logs.

Safety Compliance:

  • Promote a culture of safety among on-site personnel.
  • Assist with Enforcing safety policies and procedures, conduct safety meetings, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries.
  • Attend and participate in toolbox talks and upload attendance sheets to Procore.
  • Assist in collection of OSHA 10 and all on site equipment operators Certificates and upload certificates to Procore.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among project team members, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Address issues proactively and facilitate resolution to maintain project momentum.

Problem Solving:

  • Assist with Identifying potential challenges or obstacles to project success and work with the Site Superintendent to develop proactive solutions.
  • Adapt quickly to changing circumstances and make informed decisions to keep projects on track.
  • Miscellaneous procurement: Assist with procurement of small tools, equipment, jobsite trailer materials, etc. on an as needed basis.
  • Equipment maintenance: Keep track of and coordinate regular and necessary oil changes, tire pressure checks, refueling, etc. to ensure equipment is maintained and in working order. Conduct weekly inspections on equipment to report any deficiencies or concerns about equipment to the Site Superintendent.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of software and Procore.
  • Will be required to effectively manage all essential job duties and meet assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain onsite project documentation.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to interact with people on all levels ensuring that all external and internal communication is carried out to a high standard.
  • Excellent critical thinking and decision- making abilities.
  • Must be willing to travel to remote sites and stay on location for extended periods of time when needed.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE :

  • OSHA 10
  • 4 hour SWPPP
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Procore
  • 1-2 years minimum of experience in large-scale general construction.
  • Solar photovoltaic experience is a benefit.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a combination of education and appropriate experience preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Typical construction site environment.
  • Requires working in very hot (above 80 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
  • Work around hazardous equipment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods during the day.
  • Regularly use hands to reach; ability to talk and hear.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
