• Contract, 6 Months (Likely Extension / Possible Permanent Conversion)

• The schedule for this position is Wednesday – Sunday during normal business hours.

• This position is remote. From time-to-time – although rare – there may be off hours or on-call work.

• Candidates must be based in Eastern or Central time zones – and will work Eastern hours.

• Candidates based in Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Florida, or Texas are preferred.

Overview

• Our client is seeking an Oracle Database Administrator to provide operational database administration support. This individual would have strong experience in Oracle – someone who knows the “nuts and bolts” of what is happening in Oracle and how it works “behind the scenes” by logging into servers and reviewing logs. This is an infrastructure database administration team versus an application database administration team – so candidates must be comfortable with that type of operational environment. Their flavors range from 12c to 19c and are in cloud (Azure) environments and on-premises.

General responsibilities include:

• Implements designs and structure provided by Systems and Data Architects.

• Performs installation of complex, clustered and high-availability software and hardware environments in a timely manner in keeping with current release levels.

• Creates and maintains schedules for software maintenance and upgrades.

• Coordinates software user/acceptance testing activities for new installations and upgrade activities.

• Develops and implements techniques to prevent system problems, troubleshoots incidents to recover services and support root cause analysis

• Provides project management support regarding most technical aspects of implementing project release upgrades for assigned systems which includes: properly following a project life cycle, the development of project plans, completing all appropriate documentation and notifications in order to obtain resolution within the established timeframes.

• Maintains data in database environment, including production.

• Assists in defining back-up and recovery requirements.

• Transforms and loads data into database.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in database administration – OR – High School diploma and 7 years of experience in database administration.

• Strong experience in Oracle database administration – to include knowledge of advanced functions and features (such as performance tuning, Real Application Clusters (RAC), etc.).

• Highly skilled in SQL.

• Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Ansible experience.

• Unix scripting experience.

• Azure experience.
