Your day at NTT DATAThe Assistant Project Manager (APM) will assist the project manager on a variety of Mission Critical projects of varying complexity. The position will manage and act as a coordinator and project liaison to the general contractor, design team, vendors, and other stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
The Assistant Construction Project Manager is a developing role, responsible for overall project success, including project oversight, direction, and strategy over multiple data center construction projects of significant value, particularly relating to safety, schedule, scope, budget, and quality.
What You'll Be DoingESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, operations, finance, and internal department leaders to assure project team fulfills the mission and objectives of capital projects.
- Support project teams in the preparation and execution of tasks throughout all phases of the project process; includes identifying scopes of work, resource requirements, cost estimates and budgets, work plan schedule and milestones, quality control, and risk mitigation.
- Assist PM in change order management/field change directives, approval of invoices, pay applications and management of schedules.
- Assesses and quantify change requests to determine impacts to scope, budget, schedule, quality, and risk.
- Assist PM in creating action plans to meet objectives, budget, and schedule.
- Assist PM with project level management tasks including budget updates, schedule baseline and monthly updates (EVM), contract documentation, project documentation
- Provide leadership to confirm all Contractors and Suppliers are following safety best practices and producing the industry leading performance expected.
- Assist PM in preparation of typical construction management monthly project meetings
- Assist PM in producing executive summary and status reports to internal senior leadership
- Manage closeout of project documentation
- Understanding of Project Management, Planning, Construction Management, and Data Centers.
- Demonstrated leadership ability in dealing with Owners, Architects, Contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Knowledge of prime contracts including lump sum, GMP, hard bid, negotiated, design-build, etc.
- Project controls knowledge including critical path schedules, budgeting, forecasting and change management
- Familiarity of all aspects of Development design and Construction- to include site work, core, and shell, mechanical and electrical, utilities, finishes, etc.
- Strong presence – able to convey complex and technical concepts to a non-construction audience
- Must be very organized, analytical, and structured with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Manage stress and/or fast pace effectively.
- Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Bluebeam.
- Proficient in Bluebeam
- Proficient in Primavera P6
- Knowledge of industry standards, building codes and safety standards including fire protection regulations
- Knowledge of capital budget management
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, construction management or relevant field
- 5 years’ experience in General and/or Specialty Construction Project Management with a focus in data center or similar mission critical facilities construction.
- Moderate level experience in General and/or Specialty Construction Project Management
- Moderate level experience in data center or similar mission critical facilities construction
- Moderate level experience in managing construction projects of significant value
- Moderate level experience in urban environments with difficult logistics and fast-track schedules
- Moderate level experience in construction management, capital budget management, and knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
- Moderate level multi-project experience in large scale construction management, mission critical or infrastructure preferred
- Primarily walking, standing, and bending on project site.
- Able to hear and speak into a telephone.
- Close visual work on a computer terminal.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Working at assigned project sites physically present with the on-site construction teams on a routine basis. Periodic travel to secondary sites main offices or team meeting sites will be required.
- 10% travel.
- Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.
NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $ 96,300 - $ 137,500.
All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
