The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Hourly Wage: $23.12

Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly

General Description

Under the general direction of the Crisis ServicesProgram Manager, responsible for clinical screenings, assessments, follow-ups, crisisintervention, and determining service eligibility based on consumer needs.Coordinates and links to needed services as determined by screening andassessments conducted. Provides clinical interventions to address the need foron-going outpatient services and/or inpatient admission. Responsible forappropriate documentation of said clinical interventions. This position requires minimal travel andflexible hours. Works under generalsupervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independentjudgment. 

Minimum Qualifications

As the LocalMental Health Authority, a qualified mental health professional (QMHP-CS) withdemonstrated and documented competency in the work to be performed is definedas an employee with a minimum of a bachelor's or advance degree from anaccredited college or university with a major in psychology, social work,medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physicianassistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, earlychildhood education or early childhood intervention.

Musthave reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business.Must have a valid driver's license at all times, liability insurance and a gooddriving record.

Preferred: Experience working withpersons with serious mental illness. Bilingual in both English/Spanish

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstration of the clinical competencies required by agency-approved, standardized training
• Computer literate
• Ability to participate as a team member 
• Basic understanding of mental illness, common signs and symptoms, and able to identify difficulties with coping in community settings
• Considerable knowledge of assessment techniques and tools
• Knowledge of client care techniques, and of treatment, therapy and of developmental programs
• Ability to assess client needs, to coordinate client services and to provide guidance to others.
• Ability to work with others and to gain and retain the confidence of persons being instructed, guided, or directed
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to formulate, organize, and implement a plan of action.
• Knowledgeof community resources; of case management principles, objectives, standardsand methods; and of program policies and procedures.
