The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Salary: "Please note that the job posting rate for this position is $21.79 to $25.01, the salary offered will follow the starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the minimum of the salary range. However, a salary may be negotiated above the minimum range depending on applicable years of experience and qualifications."

General Description
Under supervision of the IDD Director and Apprenticeship/CIE Supervisor. The Employment Navigator performs highly advanced services and technical assistance work. Work involves planning, development, and implementation of initiatives required to assist a job seeker navigate the multiple state and local agencies in order to obtain competitive integrated employment. This position is responsible for assisting with end-to-end employment assistance for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and individuals receiving services for Mental Health (MH) challenges. Navigators will work at sites across the state of Texas to educate, guide, and assist individuals and family members through the process of working with state agencies to obtain employment. Employment Navigators will serve as an advocate/point of contact to facilitate communication and services among individuals, families, HHSC, TWC, TEA, and other organizations, as necessary, to reach employment goals. Works under moderate supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs related work as assigned. This position is a temporary, grant-funded position.Minimum Qualifications
Minimum: Graduation from an accredited university, with a bachelors or advanced degree in rehabilitation, marketing, or a related human services field and at least six months of paid or unpaid experience providing services for people with disabilities. Must have reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business. Must have a valid driver's license at all times, liability insurance and a good driving record.
Preferred: 3 years' experience in working in community mental health/intellectual disability services, and/or experience with disability employment services; an advanced degree (masters or higher).Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
