Salt Lake Community College is Hiring a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Part-Time) Near Salt Lake City, UT

Provide Primary Mental Health Care to students, faculty, and staff in a multi-campus, integrative, college healthcare setting. Assess and diagnose mental health problems, for example: depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, substance abuse, loss, grief, adjustment issues, and difficulty coping. Treat with full scope of therapeutic skills including prescribing, psychotherapy, and refer when necessary. This is a part-time position averaging 15-20 hours a week or 2 shifts/week. Maximum of 125 hours/month. Exact shifts to be determined between employee and clinic manager prior to start date.

The Center for Health and Counseling (CHC) at Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is an integrated student health center. The CHC provides primary health, mental health, and health promotion services for SLCC's diverse adult student population. Our purpose is to promote healthy bodies, minds, and lives for both personal and academic achievement. Fulfilling this purpose requires a collaborative culture of excellence, leadership, and respect.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

* Assess, diagnose and treat students with a focus on mental health promotion, wellness and disease prevention.

* Assist patients to address underlying issues, encouraging participation in their treatment plan and emphasize patient education while respecting individual and cultural diversity.

* Provide skilled crisis intervention and outreach.

* Enter and chart information into the electronic medical records system.

* Provide electronic media literacy.

* Document all scheduled visits and interactions with patients.

* Participate and coordinate duties and tasks with other Center for Health and Counseling staff including medical assistants, counselors, health educators, massage therapists and clerical staff to ensure low-cost, accessible, holistic health/wellness care.

* Advocate and maintain quality health care by individually meeting or exceeding OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, GRAMA, FERPA and occupational health standards as well as participate in other quality improvement programs.

* Other duties as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications

* Current license as advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), with a specialty in mental health.

* Prescriptive privilege in the State of Utah, or able to obtain within 30 days of hire.

* Master's degree or higher in nursing from an accredited college of nursing.

* National board-certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.

* Certification in BLS or ACLS or ability to be certified within 30 days of offer.

* Employee hired into this position is required to be physically located on campus in a health clinic setting.

Preferred Qualifications

College/student health related work experience.

Experience with a second language is an asset.

Experience working with a diverse patient population.

* Advocate and maintain quality health care by individually meeting or exceeding OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, GRAMA, FERPA and occupational health standards as well as participate in other quality improvement programs.

* Knowledge of electronic medical charting and electronic media literacy.

* Extraordinary problem solving and analysis, excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

* Competency working with a diverse population in independent settings.

* Commitment to patient-centered health and wellness services.

* Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.

* Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
