The Supervisor Nursing - Labor and Delivery is responsible for assisting the Manager in providing overall leadership and direction for the Critical Care units. This role focuses on fostering a multidisciplinary team and collaborative approach to care to achieve operational and clinical "Best Practice."
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Operations:
Provide day-to-day operational leadership for the unit.
Ensure the provision of patient care 24 hours a day.
Round on patients to gain insight into care provision and patient satisfaction.
Coordinate patient care delivery in collaboration with other health care team members.
Develop, implement, and monitor unit-based quality improvement programs using lean principles.
Lead efforts to develop and achieve “best operational and clinical practice.”
Develop and implement unit-based goals for quality patient care delivery.
Collaboration and Communication:
Establish strong rapport with physicians, staff, and peers.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
Standards and Compliance:
Ensure patient care is delivered in accordance with professional, regulatory, medical center, and department standards.
Demonstrate clinical competence by assisting with patient care to maintain skills.
Serve as a role model for staff in following department standards and attending designated meetings.
Education and Development:
Assist with new hires and orientation, working with unit preceptors.
Collaborate with the clinical nurse specialist and/or clinical educator to plan and implement educational programs.
Ensure competencies of Family Educators through evaluation processes and educational opportunities.
Problem Solving and Delegation:
Demonstrate critical thinking skills and apply lean principles in problem-solving issues.
Demonstrate effective delegation and prioritization skills.
Additional Responsibilities (as RN):
Fulfill RN position description responsibilities.
Demonstrate nursing skills in designated areas/patient care setting.
Plan, implement, or change programs/classes as needed.
Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
Washington Registered Nurse License (upon hire).
National Provider BLS - American Heart Association (upon hire).
2 years of recent experience in Critical Care with demonstrated clinical knowledge and leadership qualities.
Preferred QualificationsExperience as a Charge Nurse.
Candidate RequirementsExperience: 5 to 7 years, with 3 years in Labor and Delivery leadership preferred.
Seniority Level: Mid-Senior
Management Experience Required: No
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree
Willingness to Travel: Never
Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have charge or supervisor experience within Labor and Delivery, with at least 3 years of experience in L&D leadership. Leadership experience within L&D is essential.
