Overview

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for the deployment of Linux container based micro-service cluster to facilitate the software control systems of a state of the art particle accelerator system for medical radioisotope production. Reporting to the Director of CSEE, you will collaborate with engineers and scientists to integrate software and hardware responsible for the control of the accelerator and handle the large amounts of data generated from its operation.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

• Develop scripts, automation, templates, system images, virtual machines, and containers to improve reliability and performance of systems in the production facility
• Propose improvements to production system to eliminate points of failure
• Document processes and procedures into the group knowledgebase
• Configure, Modify and debug vendor-supplied software utilities and packages built on the EPICS framework
• Plan and coordinate the design, procurement, installation, configuration, and maintenance of managed switches, servers, and networking equipment
• Provide additional IT infrastructure support and project assistance as required
• Quickly respond to and resolve issues and outages

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• 5 years of professional experience working with DevOps
• Experience working in a production environment
• Experience in the deployment and configuration of containers and container orchestration (Ex: Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience in the deployment and configuration of VM and VDI software (Ex: Citrix, ESXI, Proxmox)
• Experience in the deployment and configuration of CI/CD tools (Gitlab CI/Jenkins, Ansible)
• Network fundamentals in enterprise routing and switching
• Comfortable working in Linux terminal and use scripting language such as Bash/Python
• Fundamental understanding of Linux networking, file sharing, process/module management, and system configuration
• Basic understanding of cyber security best practices

Preferred Requirements:

• BS/MS in Computer Science/related degree OR equivalent professional experience
• Development experience with EPICS
• Experience deploying infrastructure as code
• Experience maintaining Linux systems (Red Hat, Rocky, CentOS)
• Experience in C/C , Python & OOP
• Experience with data visualization software (Grafana)
• Experience with databases and object stores (ElasticSearch, MariaDB, S3, MongoDB)

Physical Requirements:

• Must be comfortable working in a facility that produces radiation
• Work to be conducted in both an office environment and the production facility
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Frequent use of computer with repetitive use of keyboard, mouse and manual dexterity
• <10% Travel
