We are looking for a Hands-On Head of Machine Learning Engineer to work on our clients video stream team to improve the ML models. We are looking for an engineer that’s passionate about working in a startup environment that thrives on innovation and collaboration in New York City.

You'll be working with a talented team of engineers with a history of working with large-scale applications. Your work will be used by millions of people around the world and help create new experiences for the next generation of gamers. You will be helping us scale the platform to 100 million users by building high-quality features that our creators love.

This role will be responsible for building a computer vision model. Currently, there is a database of billions of gaming clips that need to be contextualized more easily in the product, in addition to augmenting the embeddings via automated annotations and computer vision to create rich context around the clips.

The current problem: Medal is looking for someone to use computer vision to take videos and output embeddings with semantic understanding of those particular videos. They will take the imagines and add abstract knowledge for videos in / video out to understanding the embeddings into vectors that'll help improve features including search, ranking, and recommendations for their video libraries. The value position for the company now is to be a "Capture Company" where they can create semantic understandings and build them into LLMs to build modules.

What are the core responsibilities?

• Build and deploy robust ML systems for personalized recommendation experiences
• Design & deliver new recommendation features & products to satisfy customer needs & drive growth in an efficient manner
• Improve user experience and grow the community with new recommendation features and techniques
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop analytical dashboards that describe and reflect the impact of recommendations

What are some of the requirements?

• 5 years of experience as an ML engineer
• Experience using ML and data science to build high-performant real-time recommender systems
• Excel at Python and ML/DL frameworks
• Ability to manage under ambiguity, balancing multiple work-streams and priorities
• Willingness to be available outside of regular work hours for dealing with significant issues and ability to act proactively to resolve technical problems
• Ability to thrive under pressure and “do anything it takes” attitude

$220,000 - $275,000 a year

The pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $220,000 and $275,000 per year. However, base pay may vary further depending on individualized factors for candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Moreover, stock options will be issued. Our packages are strong for top-tier talent. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
