NYC Department of Education is Hiring a Marketing Manager, Marketing and Branding - 22302 Near Manhattan, NY
Position Summary: The Division of Family and Community Engagement and External Affairs includes a diverse portfolio of offices, including Family and Community Empowerment, Intergovernmental Affairs, Office of Language Access, Press Office, Communications and Marketing and Branding. These teams work together to assist the Chancellor in serving the largest school system in the country, composed of approximately 1 million students and ensure that parents, students, and all New York City communities have the information they need to be informed advocates for their children, neighborhoods, and schools. The New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) is dedicated to creating and supporting partnerships among schools, families, and the community. As a part of the Marketing and Branding office, the Marketing Manager will serve as a liaison between the creative team, other colleagues across the agency, and vendors. The Marketing manager must have an eye for detail and will manage multichannel marketing campaigns, project schedules, and budgets. Performs related work. Reports to: Director of Marketing and Branding Direct Reports: N/A Key Relationships: Director of Marketing and Branding, Marketing Project Manager and Designer, Creative Specialist, colleagues in offices and divisions throughout the NYCPS, and vendors. Responsibilities
Manages marketing projects and campaigns from start to finish, including establishing campaign goals, identifying target audiences, developing marketing plans, and placing ads to meet specific objectives across different channels and segments.
Advises and assists the Director of Marketing and Branding with quarterly and annual reports on marketing performance and advertising budgets.
Identifies effectiveness and impact of marketing initiatives with tracking and analysis and optimizes accordingly.
Analyzes customer insights, consumer trends, market analysis, and marketing best practices to build successful strategies.
Ensures marketing projects are completed on schedule and on/under budget.
Works in partnership with the creative team to develop campaigns that meet objectives for public-facing multichannel marketing efforts, including radio, TV, print, online advertising, Digital Out-of-home (DOOH), Out-of-home (OOH), and video assets in all 10 NYCPS supported languages.
Serves as a liaison between Marketing, other NYCPS offices, and vendors.
Builds relationships throughout the agency to identify opportunities, leverage internal support, and drive collaboration.
Coordinates with outside vendors (e.g., printers, media outlets, etc.) to ensure proper project management and production for distribution, as needed.
Coordinates marketing buys with a diverse array of Ethnic and Community Media outlets.
Ensures NYCPS compliance with Local Law 83 for advertising buys.
Reviews all agency ads for final quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC).
Establish performance specifications and report performance on marketing campaigns, including ROI and KPIs.
Manages agency email marketing efforts, including establishing an inter-office workflow and maintaining an email marketing calendar.
Manages special projects and initiatives to support the Marketing team as needed.
Qualification RequirementsMinimum
A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college with 24 credits in English, journalism or public relations, plus five (5) years of full-time paid experience in public relations, journalism or advertising, including two (2) years in an administrative, supervisory or consultative capacity; or
A combination of education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above. Graduate study in English, journalism, or public relations may be substituted for up to one (1) year of required experience. However, all candidates must have at least two (2) years of administrative, supervisory, or consultative experience in public relations, journalism or advertising.
Preferred
Strong understanding of NYCPS’s business model and how creative solutions contribute to the NYCPS success over time.
Experience working with outside vendors, e.g., printers, media agencies, etc.
Experience with budgets.
Proven experience managing multichannel marketing plans and campaigns.
Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills.
Metrics-driven marketing mind with an eye for creativity.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, ability to meet deadlines, and attention to detail.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Ability to think strategically about audiences and marketing strategy.
Familiar with Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign.
Familiar with Adobe Marketo or email marketing tools.
Salary: $107,476 (Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.)
